The Gosfield Lake Triathlon & Multisport Event is promoted by Born2Tri, based at the beautiful Gosfield Lake resort www.gosfieldlake.co.uk close to Braintree and Halstead, Essex. This popular open water swimming venue is well known within the region. 

Following the success of last year, we are again offering Sprint and Standard distance triathlon races as well as the Aquabike and Aquathlon.  After the closing date no changes can be made so please make the organiser know if you wish to alter your race distance / type ASAP.

Due to the current Covid-19 Crisis we have decided for 2021 only to incorporate the Spring Duathlon 2021 originally planned for 18th April 2021 into this years event. The race options are therefore as follows: 

Sprint Distance Tri - 750m Swim, 20km bike, 5km run

Standard Distance Tri - 1500m Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run

Aquabike - 1500m, 40km bike

Aquathlon - 1500m,10km run

Dualthon - 4km Run, 20km Bike, 4km Run

Triathlon & Duathlon trophies will be awarded for 1st place male / female in the following catgories

• Youth/Junior (U20)
• Open (U40)
• Vet (over 40)

Trophies for Aquathlon and Aquabike will be awarded 1st place male and 1st place 1st place female of each race.

Entry Limit - 240 competitors

Competitors must be at least 18yrs of age on race day.

Race Course & Options

Option 1 - Sprint Distance (£49)

The race starts with a single lap swim, 750m, in Gosfield Lake with a rolling swim start and exiting via a beach area. There is a spacious transition area next to the lake, which forms the focus of the race. The fast cycle course is mainly on rural roads, with a single 20km lap passing through Sible Hedingham, Blackmore End and Beazley End. This is followed by a 5km run over a mixture of paths and grassland.

Option 2 - Standard Distance (£54)

The race starts with a two lap swim, 1500m in total, in Gosfield Lake with a rolling swim start and exiting via a beach area. There is a spacious transition area next to the lake, which forms the focus of the race. The fast cycle course is mainly on rural roads, with two 20km laps passing through Sible Hedingham, Blackmore End and Beazley End. This is followed by a 10km run over a mixture of paths and grassland.

Option 3 - Aquabike (£35)

The race starts with a two lap swim, 1500m total distance, in Gosfield Lake with a rolling swim start and exiting via a beach area. Option 4 - Aquathlon (£35)

The race starts with a two lap swim, 1500m total distance, in Gosfield Lake with a rolling swim start and exiting via a beach area. There is a spacious transition area next to the lake, which form the focus of the race. This is followed by a 10km run over a mixture of paths and grassland.

Option 5 - Duathlon (£31)

4km single lap, multi terrain run on paths and grassland from the lake venue followed by a single 20km lap  passing through Sible Hedingham, Blackmore End and Beazley End and finishing with a 4km lap as before.

 All options will benefit from chip timing.

On reaching the entry limit we will keep a small waiting list to replace those who have to withdraw.

 The transition area will be situated next to the lake, limited shower and changing facilities will be available close to the swim start. The first swim wave will start at 8am, all competitors will be registered before the race starts to minimise traffic on the bike route outside the resort.

Rules 
This event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon. 
Your bicycle must be in a mechanically safe condition. 
An approved cycle helmet must be worn on the cycle section. NO HELMET NO RACE.

A British Triathlon race official will be present throughout the race.

Racers without internet access can have a copy posted by prior arrangement with the organiser.

Racers who are not members of British Triathlon must purchase a ‘day licence’ at an additional cost of £5 to provide insurance for your event (this fee is automatically included if you do not provide a British Triathlon membership number on entering).

Contingency Plan - Due to the current climate it is understandably very difficult as a club to anticipate the restrictions in July. every effort will be made to put this event on where we reserve the right to alter, move the date and postpone as required. We would not normally offer refunds however if it is decided to do so these would be less the cost to the club for abortive fees, such as supplier deposits. The event is run by a local Triathlon Club rather than a business.  In the event of part of the course being unavailable to the organiser on the day, for reasons beyond their control, an alternative course will be provided to allow a competitive event to take place. Should we be unable to provide a suitable safe alternative course due to reasons beyond our control and the event be cancelled Born2Tri will not provide refunds. 

Withdrawal Policy - Born2Tri acknowledge racers will on occasion need to withdraw an entry through injury or other reason.  The cut off dates for refunds will be 4 weeks prior to the race itself (13th June 2021) where a refund will be made less a £5 administration fee.  After this date there will be no refunds available.
