**365 Day - Swim Bike Run Virtual Challenge 2021**

01 Jan 2021 - 31 Jan 2021

Organiser's Description

It has been a hard year for everyone with so many races cancelled however this "one of a kind" virtual challenge carried on throughout 2020 and encouraged all participants to keep fit and keep motivated.  Over 50 people have taken part this year from all over the world including Germany, Australia and America - it went International :)

It is nearly the start of a new year and the start of new challenges. With so many races being an unknown for 2021, this virtual event might just be what you are looking for.

Sign up and complete your very own virtual multisport challenge by swimming, cycling and running over the whole year, but at your own pace and without the pressure of a race environment! You don't even have to do all three, it's your challenge therefore complete it your very own way. Apart from being fun, it is also a great way to motivate yourself throughout the year and if you want, to race against your friends and other like minded people.

On Offer

There are four distances on offer, 500, 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 miles (a new 500 mile challenge has been added for 2021). The challenge will start on the 1st January, but you have until the 31st January to sign up.  The challenge will last all year and you will need to complete your chosen miles by the end of December 2021.

It’s your race, your rules, so you do the disciplines you fancy and when they fit in with your schedule.  You can run on a treadmill or run outside. You can cycle on a turbo bike or cycle outside.  You can swim in a pool, a lake or the sea! You can participate in another race and the miles will still count towards your total. You can run your race at your pace anywhere in the world. If you have always fancied giving triathlon a go but have held back for whatever reason, well this is your perfect chance to give it a try.

The Bling

Motivate yourself and bring “Bling” to your training! Book your place now on the Virtual Challenge and earn yourself a awesome medal (measuring 55mm in diameter) that can be personally engraved to whatever you fancy (your name, challenge, slogan etc.(max 20 characters).

There will also be some fun prizes for the top Male and Female of each challenge with the greatest overall miles and this will be sent out at the same time as your medal.

For every entry a £1 will be donated to MIND as the coronavirus pandemic is having a huge impact on our mental health therefore this would be a great charity to support.  They provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.

How do ‘Virtual Triathlons’ work?

Virtual Triathlons work slightly differently to your normal virtual run. Once you are all signed up, I will ask you to join a strava group (so you will need a strava account to take part).  At the end of every week, come Sunday at 5pm you will need to upload all your miles to strava.  From here I will then individually go through all your accounts and will convert all miles done for your swim, bike and run and convert them into total run miles by using the following formula:-

  • For every 1ml swam I will convert this into 4 miles of running
  • For every 3ml cycled, I will convert this into 1 mile of running
  • For every 1ml ran/walked, this will equate to 1 mile of running :)

e.g. Come Sunday, Strava tells me Swimming 1600m (1 mile = 4mls), Cycling 30 miles (30 miles = 10 mls), Running 5 miles (= 5 miles) = 19 miles of total miles

If you are not happy with this formula please do not sign up, but after carrying out research, I feel this is the fairest way to work it out.

I will also send an email out every Sunday with an update of the current male and female winner and a copy of the leaderboard (folk love this bit) which will show if you are above or below the virtual pacemaker.

During the Covid 19 Pandemic, please remember to follow your Governments guidelines on sport and exercise and do not breach any rules during this challenge.

All miles submitted will be based on trust, but I am sure you are all a trust worthy bunch.

All miles are done on your own merit and at your own risk.  I take no responsibility for any loss, damage or injuries that you may incur.

You must have a Strava account to take part in the challenge.

I will only send a medal at the end of the year if you have reached your target of 500, 1,000, 2,000 or 3,000 miles. This will hopefully give you an added incentive to complete your challenge.

I will accept walking miles because of the current pandemic, I feel walking is good for our mental health.

If you live abroad, please contact me before signing up. The price only includes postage within the UK.

I can be contacted on Go4itevents@gmail.com if you require further information.
