Yoga and Chi Running Coaching for Runners
05 Oct 19
Yoga & Chi Running Day
Morning Session: Yoga and Movement for Runners with Nick Constantine, Yoga Teacher and Snr Chi Running Instructor
Afternoon: Chi Running with Jon Burdon, Chi Running Instructor and Trail Running Guide
Join Nick and Jon for a day to develop your journey as a runner. Jon is an experienced runner and has been using Chi Running as his primary coaching approach for over 5 years. Nick has coached Chi Running for about 8 years to Triathletes, national and international athletes, young and old, injured and recovered runners. In that time Nick has developed the Chi Running concept and integrated many other disciplines.
The main aims of the morning session are the following:-
- to introduce the idea of what a physical yoga practice is and how it can support your running and overall movement.
- To practice some key asana (physical movement) in the time
- to introduce the idea of meditation and breathing techniques and how it can help you when running
- To introduce the idea of what a yoga practice can give you.
I have been a running instructor for 10 years (with Chi Running) and a yoga practitioner for 20 years, culminating in a teaching qualification with Kridaka Yoga this year. I also hold a PE postgraduate qualification in sports coaching and have coached most of my life. Runners come in all shapes and sizes, the fastest runners I have coached were a 15m 12" 5K female and a 1h 3 min half marathon male, both just failed to qualify for the Olympics. Needless to say, I have coached all ages, abilities and interests. Please visit www.soulinmotion.co.uk for more details.
Runners love workouts, this session is a work in.
"Hi I just wanted to say a massive thank you. Using the techniques has made a massive difference to my running, not just reduced pain levels but has renewed my enthusiasm............. I will be looking out for further courses and I'm spreading the word. Perhaps all hope of racing again is not lost....."
"I feel I have come such a long way since my first session with you early last year. I was trying out new things to give meaning to my life as my work was reducing. I had joined the running club and was starting to make friends, but without the good teaching I've had I've no doubt that running would be one of those things that I beat myself up on over not getting out there. I know from past experience it's so easy to let it all slide."
"Thanks to you for a fantastic day. A real step forwards. It may only have been a few steps but it was definitely running. And NO PAIN. Amazing what you chaps achieve in instilling confidence. Surpassed my wildest expectations."
''“Meeting Nick in October 2017 has transformed my running....... I ran my second half marathon in March, injury free, without a knee brace and 12 minutes faster. I loved it....... Yoga, meditation and ............ Running light and long. My son asked me when I arrived home if I had grown taller. Of course, I hadn’t but it feels like I have.'
- An review of the Chi Running technique - perfect for beginners and ideal as a review for practised Chi Runners.

- The day will emphasise a centred, mindful approach to running.
The workshop will run from 10am and we expect to finish around 3.30pm including a break for lunch in the park cafe (cost is not included.)
Venue: Holmbridge Church Hall, HD9 2NQ
"It doesn't matter at what stage you are at with your running, Jon can help you find an easier, more efficient, style, so that you will look forward to every future run, not dread it. To have the confidence to exercise without causing injury to yourself is wonderful. To be fully 'in the moment' with body self-awareness and micro-managing it is intellectually rewarding too. As a 61 year old, relatively recent convert to Chi Running, I am now, post Jon's Level 1 workshop, filled with optimism."
Please note if we do not achieve minimum numbers, this workshop may be cancelled or we may reduce the number of instructors to one (Jon Burdon.)
