Welcome to the payment page for our trip to Pembroke!
We have booked the YHA Hostel in st Davids for us all to stay in. Check out the map for the exact location.
Pembroke is reputedly home to some of the best sea cliff trad climbing in the UK however its not the friendliest of areas for a new climber so that is something to keep in mind. We will be looking to arrange a Trad lesson for the Saturday of the trip and travel to the friendlier Sandstone Crags south of St Davids or to the non tidal area on St Davids head to mitigate this (If we have loads of unexperienced people). I recommend reading the UKC articles on the area to get a feel for it!
For insurance reasons these trips are aimed at ESC members and for that reason they will have been emailed a discount code. If you are not a member and try to use the code your ticket will be invalidated by us and give me a headache so please don't! The discount code only works for one person at a time so if you want to pay for multiple people with a code just buy one ticket at a time. If you joined after that email went round please message a committee member for the code.
If you're not a member of the club you count as a prospective member for insurance reasons (ie are covered) for the first three months since you first did a club activity. The breakdown of the costs is as follows:
2 nights ESC member - £25 (usual discount code)
2 nights NON member - £35
Make sure you add yourself to the Facebook event page arrange for car sharing. If your not on facebook get in touch and I'll help sort you a lift. The process for car sharing is as follows; if you can offer a lift then post on the facebook event where you live and how many spaces you have, if you want a lift comment underneath that persons post untill the car is full. Costs are set by the driver and split between everyone in the car.
We hope to have members from both Worcester, Gloucester and Birmingham coming along so there should be plenty of opportunites for lift sharing wherever you live.
Activies for the weekend
The club will have an activity arranged for each day if you want to join in. Plenty of things to do including, cycling, coastal walking, climbing, surfing and swimming if you can handle the cold! If you want to climb but need instruction please let us know in advance via the facebook page - we can accomodate a small number of novices, but if there are large numbers then we'll arrange a lesson. We expect everyone coming to have passed their belay test if they want to climb.
Anyone that comes along can can do what ever they want, if you want to do something specific share it on the Facebook event page. If you want us to organise something send one of the commitee a message.
What you need to bring
Food and alcohol for the weekend, although you can top up easily enough if needed. The communal meal will be on the Saturday night.
Bedding at the YHA is provided but you will need to bring Towels.
Any gear you have that you need for the activities including a bike if your going biking (or find somewhere nearby to hire one). if you are a novice climber and need any gear (including harness and helmets) please let us know in advance via the facebook page - we can accomodate a small number of novices.
Other things of note:
As it is a YHA we do not need to clean as thoroughly as a BMC hut as cleaning is expected in the price. However kitchen facilities and communal areas should be left in the way we found them, so there will be a bit of cleaning on the last day. If everyone chips in this doesn't take long, however we reserve the right to refuse you on future trips if you don't help out - its only fair!
For each sign-up, the organiser pays the Service Fee of 4% (min 50p). You pay no surcharge
