Yoga for Runners
13 Apr 19
OK, OK! As a runner, you already know you should be stretching more, so I’m not even going to go there.
Why not join me for an extended afternoon of yoga at the beautiful White Horse Yoga Centre in Devizes
This event is for runners of all levels (beginners to elite) and yoga practitioners.
Yoga and running compliment each other perfectly, yoga is ideal preparation before a big race.
This practice will connect your running fitness to your mind, body, and breath.
The afternoon includes a vinyasa-style (flow yoga) practice beginning with a dynamic sequence (designed to be performed pre-run as a warm-up) and moves seamlessly into sun salutations that link strength-building exercises. The physical portion of the workshop ends with a relaxing, cooling flow accompanied by longer-held poses aimed at releasing connective tissue and common tight areas in the body due to running; concluding with a guided meditation and breath work (pranayama) designed to enhance your running performance.
There will be a break during the afternoon for refreshments and possibly a slice of cake
White Horse Yoga Centre, is a purpose built studio, equipped with mats and blocks. Participants can bring their own mat if they want.
The purpose of the afternoon is to give you simple stretches that work for your running body, that can be used on their own or as part of a sequence. Allowing to keep clocking up the ‘miles’ for the foreseeable future.
You should leave the afternoon feeling stretched, strengthened from head to toe.
