Yoga and Movement for runners, the essentials(3 hour workshop).

'stilling the mind, moving the body'
A 3 hour workshop that introduces the essentials of how a yoga practice can support running. Not as detailed or extended as the module but more developed than any drop in.
TIME :- 12 midday to 3pm, Yoga station Whitley Bay, cost 20.00
The main aims of the session are the following:-
- to introduce the idea of what a physical yoga practice is and how it can support your running and overall movement.
- To practice some key asana (physical movement) in the time
- to introduce the idea of meditation and breathing techniques and how it can help you when running
- To introduce the idea of what a yoga practice can give you.
- Plenty of time for Q and A,
The 3 hour workshop will be divided into three sections with space between for meditation and Q and A. The first section will be to introduce the movement of yoga with the breath, the second session will introduce the idea of what a sequence or flow based on breath can give you. The third element is bringing together a breath centred practice. This is an introductory workshop if you cannot commit to a module or cannot attend the drop in this is ideal for you!
You will receive some notes to help you develop a practice at home and the confidence to attend yoga classes in your area.
I have been a running instructor for 10 years (with Chi Running) and a yoga practitioner for 20 years, culminating in a teaching qualification with Kridaka Yoga this year. I also hold a PE post graduate qualification in sports coaching and have coached most of my life. Runners come in all shapes and sizes, the fastest runners I have coached were a 15m 12" 5K female and a 1h 3 min half marathon male, both just failed to qualify for the Olympics. Needless to say I have coached all ages, abilities and interests. I have also worked closely with my good friend and teacher Mark Russell, podium finisher triathlete and outstanding yoga teacher who has worked with professional athletes for a number of years.
