Chacefield Wood Trail Series (Race 2 of 3)

Returning for a 3rd year in a row is the 2020 Chacefield Wood Trail Series supported by You Can Sport.
Chacefield Wood Trail Series:
A series of 3 increasing distance XC trail running races held within Chacefield Wood on Thursday evenings with a race start time of 7.30pm, dates, distances and costs as per the following:
Race 1 – 5km – 30th April 2020 (entry cost £7)
Race 2 - 9.5km – 28th May 2020 (entry cost £10)
Race 3 – 14km – 25th June 2020 (entry cost £13)
Add all 3 to your basket and entry central will apply a £5 discount, so great value at, for a third year running, £25 for all 3 races prior of course to the E/C processing fee.
You can also enter as a relay, however just enter one member of the relay team in the usual manner on entry central, but under “Club”, please input your relay team name with the number of relay team members in brackets after. For example: Two Bishops and a Baldie 
The series price remains the same for a third year in a row, offering exceptional value for money, we hope however, you would consider the following:
A small charitable donation option has been added to each race entry, it is an optional donation and not mandatory, however of all the funds donated from entries will be totalled up and matched by ourselves. Further information on the charitable cause is at the bottom.
You must be at least 17 years old on the day of each race to take part as a solo, however, relay teams can contain any age as long as at least one other member of the team is a parent or guardian of those within the team who are under 17 years old.
Please note, these races are pre-entry only, there are no entries taken on the day. It is a condition of entry that there are no refunds and that no number swapping will be permitted.
In the unfortunate event that you have to withdraw, please advise the event organiser.
Race Registration, Start & Finish:
This is all at the same location and just a 700m walk from the access off Glasgow Road (A872). It’ll be a great spot for spectators to base themselves as it's close to several areas of the new route.
Registration will open at 7.00pm, the race briefing will commence at 7.25pm and the race will start at 7.30pm.
Race numbers and safety pins will be handed out here. Race numbers must be cleary visible from the front for the entire race. Obstructed, folded or lost race number may result in us not being able to record your time, so memorising your number is beneficial.
The race distance is made up of a number of 4.5km laps of Chacefield Wood:
Race 1 = 1 Lap
Race 2 = 2 Laps
Race 3 = 3 Laps.
The, and each lap ‘starts’ and ‘completes’, 250m from the START/FINISH, so each race distance is made up of the number of laps plus 500m.
The course takes in a mix of forest tracks/paths and natural rutted, boggy trails both in sheltered woodland and open ground.
The 2020 course will include even more technical off-track trail sections than the 2018 & 2019 series, pinches a small roller-coaster section from the Halloween Run course and quite simply MAX’s out ALL of the trails within the wood.
The course is entirely off-road but suitable for ordinary trainers or trail shoes (not suitable for spikes). The course will be marshalled and arrowed at all junctions.

First Aid cover will be provided by St Andrew's First Aid.
We would ask that you make your journey to the race as environmentally friendly as possible, if possible, please walk, cycle or car share to get there.
There are no vehicles permitted to enter the wood access unless by land owners permission.
We are advising the parking to be as follows:
- Northbound side of Glasgow Road (Heading towards Denny) A872 – please park facing the direction of travel.
- Drove Road, which is a 2 lane one-way residential access road immediately opposite the access into the wood.
For a 3rd year, we shall be working alongside the awesome 867 Denny Squadron - RAF Air Cadets to assist with the various marshalling duties at the races.
Changing and Toilet Facilities:
There are no changing or toilet facilities within the wood. The closest facilities are:
Changing & Toilets – Denny Sports Centre (1 mile away) FK6 5DX.
We are pleased to have The Bunny Coffee Hutch located at Registration/Start/Finish to serve spectators and race finishers with hot and cold refreshments. Cash & card payments accepted.
All participants will receive a bottle of water and cereal bar at the finish.
Each participant will receive an engraved race specific medal at the finish line and the fastest male and female of each individual race will be presented with an engraved trophy.
We shall also be awarding a male and female engraved trophy for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places of the fastest combined 3 race times - Presented immediately after Race 3.
Should there be sufficient interest in relay options, relay prizes to the same affect shall be incoporated.
Race results will be available within 24 hours of the race. These will be emailed out and posted on the event’s facebook page.
There will be an event photographer at each event with images available to download/share from the event facebook page shortly after each event.

Every year, Strathcarron provides care and support to over 1,400 people with a life-limiting illness or condition, at a time when both they and their family need it most. The Hospice philosophy is about living until you die and Strathcarron ensures people have every opportunity to achieve their goals right up until the last moment.
The Hospice needs to raise over £12,900 every day to keep its services running, therefore every penny raised will make a real difference to the patients and families the Hospice cares for.
This is going to be a massive challenge, trekking for 5-7 hours per day for 7 consecutive days. It will however be an amazing challenge that will raise vital funds to help local people receive the best possible end-of-life care and support.
