Welcome to The Inaugural Perth College UHI 5K Race & Fun Run

 

 Perth College welcomes you to the inaugural Race & Fun Run 2016 to be held on, Sunday 30th October. A race for club and regular runners will start at 11:00 followed by a fun run at 12:00 for all ages and running abilities. Both will take place in the grounds of the College and pass the exciting new development of the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing. The run can be taken seriously or for fun or - if you prefer - you can just enjoy the walk. Participants are encouraged to come in Halloween fancy dress if they wish.

The 5 kilometre race will set off first at 11:00 and the fun run at 12:00 they will both follow the same course.

 

The event is being held in aid of the new Academy of Sport and wellbeing, with the admission fee and any sponsorship helping us with this exciting new project. 

 The New Academy will provide a fantastic resource for the students, staff and the wider community. The facilities inside the new building will be:-

  • A competition standard climbing chamber (Level 1)
  • A Multi-purpose sports hall
  • A Fitness Suite. Strength and Conditioning suite and fitness studio
  • Hair and Beauty Therapy Suites

The course is multi-terrain of path/grass and a few steps, It uses most of the grounds of the college and is a 2 lap course so onlookers/supporters will get to see the runners a number of times from the same place.

In addition to the race there will be a variety of activities available for everyone to enjoy at reasonable prices such as: 

  • Activity courses
  • Sumo suits
  • Face painting
  • Taster sessions of the new climbing Chamber
  • Hair and beauty, massage, nail bar, hair blow drys and hair ups

There will also be an opportunity to view the new facilities, where there will be a series of demonstration games to view.

Delicious food from our barbeque and refreshments for all will be available to purchase at the end of the run.

 ENTRY

Please enter via www.entrycentral.com  £10 fo adults and £5 for under 16's (age on 30th October) Booking in advance via Entry Central is essential as we will be unable to process entries on the day.  Sponsor forms can be requested from finla.chalmers@perth.uhi.ac.uk

Although we are unable to offer refunds, if you can't run for any reason, your place can be transferred to a family member or friend until Monday 24th October, Please contact the organisers at p.allcoat@btinternet.com to arrange this.

The race is open to runners 14 and above on the day of the race. 

The fun run is open to participants 7 years of age or older, runners under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

Registration

Run numbers and pins will be issued from 09:30 on the day at the registration area in the College car park. Registration will close at 10:45 for the race and 10:45 for the fun run.

Start

Events will start in front of the student Union building, we hope to gather all participants together close to the start 10 minutes before each event for a communal warmup to music, followed by a short announcement and a countdown.

Health and Safety

Clear route maps will be posted at registration and sent out via email two weeks before the run, we ask you to study this clearly before. The route is well signposted,and there will be marshals to guide you a some junctions. For this reason we advise runners to not wear headphones when running. The organisers are being assisted by a number of volunteer marshals. The safety of all is paramount. First aid will be provided at the finish line, and if you need help on the course please speak to a marshal who will be able to contact them directly. on The course is not suitable for wheelchair users; however wheelchair users will be able to participate in other activities.

Prizes

There will be race prizes, first to third in each gender and for the run there are prizes for first to third In each category. Female Junior, Male Junior, Female Senior, Male Senior. All finishers will receive a medal and goodie bag . Full results will be emailed out after the race and placed on the college website.

Facilities

There are limited toilet facilities at registration, changing facilities are also limited so it is advised to come 'run-ready'. No car parking will be available on the Campus but parking will be available nearby. Further information on parking will be provided nearer the time.

There will be a water station on the route at the finish area, where you are encouraged to refill after the first lap.
