Thames Ring 250 Workshop Day

Thames Ring 250 workshop Saturday 4th of February 2017
Goring Village Hall, High Street, Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG8 9AG
Parking is very limited in the area, please park responsibly on local streets and road. No parking at the Village Hall please.
Timings : start at 8:00 aim to finish at 14:30 in the hall with optional group runs at 3pm along the Thames Path.
Objective: Help and inspire participants or those aspiring to run TR250 and to prepare for the event.
Participants in other events are welcome to attend and be inspired and motivated.
8:00 – 8:15 arrival – refreshments and hot drinks available.
8:15. Intro to the day and a brief history of the event - Ringmaster Lindley
Race Director for the race and TRA official, experienced ultra runner and coach. Race director at www.challenge-running.co.uk and safety co-ordinator on the SPINE race.
9:00. The event through the eyes of a serial offender - Javed Bhatti
How his understanding of resilience has developed during this time and how it has improved his performance and lessons learnt along the way.
SPINE double and SPINE race finisher, very experienced ultra runner, Double Thames Ring 250 and has done every TR250 since the beginning.
10:00 Previous finisher – Ellen Cotton talks about her experience of the 2015 event and offers advice. Especially about how to climb out of a canal when you fall in!
Thames Ring 250 finisher 2015 and multiple 100 milers to her credit as well as 100+ marathons.
10:30. Brunch – light buffet provided. Drinks available
11:00 Volunteering at the Ring – Brian Finlay talks about volunteering at the 2015 event and what he has learnt for his 2017 attempt.
Brian volunteered on the 2015 event and is a multiple 100 mile race finisher and experienced ultra runner.
11:30. Managing yourself on the Thames Ring - Maxine to do small presentation on foot care with input on hydration and nutrition and keeping cool/warm/dry and general management from Lindley.
( with specific questions to the 'expert' panel)
Maxine is a very exerienced outdoors person and previous SPINE competitor and runs a first aid business (Peritia Training). She assists on many endurance races (including TR250 and Challenge Running Events) as well as teaching advanced outdoor first aid. Can be known as St Maxine of the Feet!
12:30. Lunch Break – Light buffet and drinks available
13:00. Guest speaker Mimi Anderson talking about her ultra running and upcoming challenges.
Mimi is a masively experienced ultra runner with several world records and multiple very long distance records and wins to her name, in 2017 she will be running accross the USA in a world record attempt.
A very inspirational lady.
13:45. Logistics of the 2017 event - Lindley
Questions from the floor ..... Check that we have achieved everyone's objectives and a opportunity to ask a few more questions.
14:30. Wrap up and vacate the hall
15:00 optional group runs with where you can ask further questions during the run.
Groups will go out for an hour at an easy conversational pace although obviously you are free to run any other time or distance if you wish.
You are under no obligation to run with anyone and are free to run on your own
Please remember a head torch if you are going out for longer than an hour.
