Thames Ring 250 workshop Saturday 16th of February 2019


Goring Village Hall, High Street, Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, RG8 9AG

Parking is very limited in the area, please park responsibly on local streets and road. No parking at the Village Hall please.


Timings : start at 8:30  aim to finish at 15:00 in the hall with the option if you wish to go out for a run on theThames Path afterwards.


Objective: Help and inspire participants or those aspiring to run TR250 and to prepare for the event.

Participants in other events are welcome to attend and be inspired and motivated.




8:30 – 8:45 arrival – refreshments and hot drinks available.


8:45.    Intro to the day and a brief history of the event - Mazemaster Lindley

Race Director for the race and TRA official, experienced ultra runner and coach. Race director at and safety co-ordinator on the SPINE race.


9:15.   The event through the eyes of a previous finisher, Pete Hammond who finished the 2017 event.


10:15   Previous finisher – Ellen Cotton talks about her experience of the 2015 event and offers advice. Especially about how to climb out of a canal when you fall in.


11:00.  Brunch – light buffet provided. Drinks available, a chance to chat to other runners.


11:30   Previous Finisher – Sandra Tullet  is a previous finisher and volunteer on the race and talks about her previous finish.


12:15.   Managing yourself on the Thames Ring - A small presentation on foot care with input on hydration and nutrition and keeping cool/warm/dry and general management from Lindley.

13:00.   Lunch Break – Light buffet and drinks available, a chance to chat to other runners.


13:30.    Guest speaker - Dan Lawson, Elite GB team runner will talk about his experiences and trainig and answer questions. Dan is a Euopean Champion and has won or podiumed in many world class races such as Spartathlon and Eropean 24 hour races. He also recently attempted to break the Jogle record and has set up ethical clothing company Rerun. 


14:30.   Logistics of the 2017 event - Lindley


Questions from the floor ..... Check that we have achieved everyone's objectives and an opportunity to ask a few more questions.


15:30.     Wrap up and vacate the hall


15:30 optional group runs with where you can ask further questions during the run.

Groups will go out for an hour at an easy conversational pace although obviously you are free to run any other time or distance if you wish.

You are under no obligation to run with anyone and are free to run on your own

Please remember a head torch if you are going out for longer than an hour
