Alexis Rose 10K Trail Race in aid of Meningitis Research Foundation
16 Jul 17
This race is in memory of Alan and Ruth Glynn's daughter, Alexis Rose, who tragically died of Meningitis aged 19 months in 2011. The race was set up to raise funds for MENINGITIS RESEARCH FOUNDATION to help them save lives and rebuild futures by funding research, raising awareness and providing support. The 3rd running of this race will take place on 16th July 2017 at 11am.
Please note that this is a fundraiser for Meningitis Research Foundation and there are no discounts for SAF members.
No refunds will be permitted. Transfers and deferrals will be dealt with on a discretionary basis but cannot be considered after 8th July 2017.
The race starts just off the main Tay Car Park and follows the path uphill into Moncreiffe Hill woods. You will follow the marked trail along a big loop around the hill, passing the two ancient forts and not forgetting a chance to enjoy the stunning views across the Perthshire countryside before returning back on the same path with a lovely downhill to the finish. The route is very undulating and challenging and we recommend you try some off-road running before taking part in this race. The race will be chip-timed.
For more information on Moncreiffe Hill, please visit the Woodland Trust website - http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/wood/4909/moncreiffe-hill/
Finding Moncreiffe Hill:
Moncreiffe Hill is just east of the M90 and A912 between Bridge of Earn and Perth. The northern entrance and main Tay Car Park is closest to Perth. From Perth head south along the A989 (Tay Street). At the roundabout take the first exit on to Shore Road, then at the second roundabout take the second exit on to Friarton Road. Continue along and up a hill, then, at the junction, turn left onto the A912 (Edinburgh Road). Then take the third left onto Rhynd Road (just before the M90 motorway turn off). Continue for roughly one mile, and the car park and race start area is on the right.
Coming from Kinross/Fife direction, turn off the M90 at Perth (not Bridge of Earn) and then on entering Perth, take the right hand turn signposted Rhynd (practically opposite Craigclowan School). Continue for roughly one mile, and the car park and race start area is on the right.
Please note that there are limited car parking spaces available. Please car share if at all possible. We will have car parking attendants on the day to help you, please respect them at all times. Be aware that if the car park is full when you arrive, you will need to find alternative parking which might be some distance away from the race start.
The race will start at 11am.
Registration will open at 9am in the main Tay Car Park at Moncreiffe Hill (that's the car park nearest Perth).
A water station will be positioned around the halfway mark.
All runners will receive a fabulous goody bag (designed and sponsored by Alison Hobson of marketing company Just Peel Limited - Alison's daughter is a Meningitis survivor) including a bespoke medal (also designed by Alison Hobson and sponsored and produced by Running Imp) plus a technical t-shirt (designed and sponsored by Joe Webley of Eko-Installations Limited).
Race numbers are being sponsored by Billy Carle.
