Rainbow Valley will offer cancer patients the opportunity to learn more about their condition and to try (free of charge) preventative and self-help therapies, which aim to help relax the patient and promote positivity out with hospital, in tranquil surroundings. The facility will be available to the cancer patient before, in between and after hospital treatments which can often leave them tired, emotionally drained and weak. The facility will allow the individual time to explore different therapies, ideas and religions, and will allow precious freedom to try to come to terms with their feelings in surroundings that allow them to ‘get away’ from the situation for a little while and be a ‘normal’ family and individual again. Rainbow Valley will also promote healthy living through encouragement of sport, exercise and nutrition. For more information on rainbow Valley go to http://www.rainbowvalley.org.uk/
10K Trail Description
Run through the beautiful Ard forest, viewing some of Scotland’s most amazing scenery.
Between the outskirts of Aberfoyle and the foothills of Ben Lomond lies the great forest of Loch Ard. Throughout the forest there are many lochs & lochans from the mighty Loch Chon and Loch Ard to the picturesque Lochan A’Chleannain and the tiny Clansmore Loch. There is an abundance of wildlife in the forest including Red & Roe Deer, Capercailllie, Red Squirrels, Woodpeckers as well as the mighty Osprey together with a vast array of plant & fungi.
The Trossachs 10K starts at the West End Car park Exit, beside the Manse Road Bridge and after 100 metres turns right, leaving the tarmac road and entering the forest for real. From then on you are on forest roads and paths until the fast flat last mile along the old railway line back to the pedestrian access at the East End of the car park.
The route is fully marked and marshalled with refreshments provided.
