Dirty Dug Canicross Race

Dirty Dug Events welcomes you to join us on Sunday 25th March at 9.30am for a Dirty Dugs first ever Cani-cross race.
5k Cani-cross for ages 13+, 2.5k Cani-cross for ages 7+ and fun run. All distances are approximate and may change at course setting prior to the race.
Note: This is a running with dogs race you must run with a dog(s)
Pollock Country Park, Riverside Carpark next to Pollock House, Glasgow G43 1AT
PARKING IS LIMITED SO PLEASE CAR SHARE IF YOU CAN.
Registration from 8.00am, Briefing will be at 9.00am
1st race off at 9.30am, Short course 10.30am
Entry fee £12.00 for adult long course 13+. Juniors (under 13 minimum age 7) Short Course £8
Prize giving will be roughly about 12pm, depending on how quickly we process the results. Prizes for 1st - 3rd in each category. There will be a prize for short course 1st - 3rd place for competitors only entered in the short course, if you have run in the long course you will not place in the short course.
There will be a goodie bag for each person to be collected at registration.

DOGS - must be no younger than 1 year old on day of the race, in season, pregnant or lactating bitches are not permitted to race. Dogs must be kept on the lead at all times during the race and should not be run in a slip lead, check/choke chain, head collar, flexi lead or any collar that restricts breathing, if a muzzle is required it should be of the wire greyhound racing style. For your dog’s comfort we suggest they run in a suitable harness, some equipment may be available for sale or hire on the day.
Dogs should not be brought to the event if they are coughing or have recently been in contact with infectious disease. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their dog is fit and healthy before racing. If in doubt consult your vet.
AGE GROUPS - Our age groups, subject to entries should be: 7-12 / 13 - 19 / 20 - 29 / 30 - 39 / 40+ / 2 dog.
SEEDED STARTS - Race starts are staggered and seeded for safety and to minimise overtaking. There will be a 10 second gap between each runner. This is a technical and hilly course so please give an average 5k time and not a flat fast time to prevent traffic on the course.
BORROWED DOGS - It is presumed that you are running with your own dog. If you must borrow a dog to race with you may only enter a single dog category, you should be familiar with each other, have trained together prior to the race, the handler should be aware of the dog’s behaviour in a race environment and be responsible for its care throughout the event.
CHILDREN - Age 7 - 12, on the day of the race, are advised to be accompanied by an adult. The adult is there for safety. Only the child must handle the dog themselves. Adults do not need to be attached to the child or dog but they must be able to keep up. Adults are allowed to run with an additional dog to help them keep up with the child but the child must not be attached to both dogs.
All children attending the event to run or spectate must be supervised by an adult at all times and instructed not to approach dogs they do not know.
SHORT COURSE - is a shorter option for adults or for those wanting to have a go at cani-cross and the kids. The course will roughly be 2.5/3k.
INSURANCE - The race will be covered by event/public liability insurance but all racers and spectators attend the event and run at their own risk.
CHANGES TO ENTRIES - Changes to entries must be made by email only please to: Janis.firstname.lastname@example.org up to 24hrs prior to the event. If you need to transfer between classes, i.e. one dog to two dog or long course to short course etc., this should be done before entries close and the start the list is published which will be 5 days before. A 70% refund is available up to 7 days before the event date, this is to cover expenses already inccured by by entry fees and insurance.
CANCELLATION - Should the race have to be cancelled or postponed for reason beyond the organisers control or in the event of bad weather, making the course too dangerous to run on, the organisers reserve the right to take expenses already incurred from entry fees and insurance before using any remaining moneys to refund entrants. The organiser will post on Facebook and email all entrants if there are any last-minute changes - please check your email before traveling.
FACILITIES - Please respect the facilities and venue. Clean up after your dog in all areas and on the course.
Toilet areas should not be used to wash mud off legs, children, dogs, shoes etc. Sinks are for hand washing only. Bring suitable changes of clothes, towels or wet wipes with you. Keep dogs on the lead in all areas the venue, car park and near livestock and on the course. Feel free to walk your dog off lead round the public areas of the venue after the event but please respect other park users.
Pollock House has a cafe that serves hot rolls, cakes and hot drinks. NO DOGS ALLOWED IN THE HOUSE.
Toilets will be available inside Pollock House and also at Loch Inch Football pitches just along from Pollock House. Kids MUST be supervised at all times whilst in Pollock House.
SAFETY - Please listen to the race briefing and marshal’s instructions. If your dog(s) are likely to be noisy and excited please do not bring them to the race briefing so that everyone can clearly hear safety instructions.
Human and Canine first aiders are on duty at all events wearing high viz yellow vests, please ask if you or your dog are in need of help.
