Brought to you by the Triathlon Trust, the Crawick Space Race will be a great day out for all the famliy.
The Crawick Multiverse is a hidden gem nested in a bowl of rolling hills in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway (Upper Nithsdale).
This major land restoration project, on the Duke of Buccleuch’s Queensberry Estate has transformed a former open cast coal mine into a spectacular artland and public amenity.
The ecology of the site, and the materials found within it, inspired its design which is based around space, astronomy and cosmology.
10km Space Race
This running route will be over mixed terrain trails with some sections of open road. Starting from the Crawick Multiverse grounds you will head off to explore some of the southern upland way before passing through the historic town of Sanquhar and returning to the Multiverse to take on the final climb around the Comet Walk then descending to the Sun Amphitheatre to finish.
Open to 15 years +, under 18s must have parental consent (sign at registration).
Age as of 31st December 2019.
This race will be chip timed and prizes will be awarded to;
- 1st - 3rd place Overall male and female.
- 1st place U17 male and female
- 1st place U20 male and female
- 1st place Senior (20 - 35) male and female
- 1st place Master male and female (35+)
- 1st place Local male and female (Upper Nithsdale catchment)
Prize giving will take place as soon as possible after the last competitor finishes the race. All finishers will receive a medal.
There will be one water station available on route and at the finish line.
Entry Fee : £15 Scottish Athletics members, £17 non-members (discount does not apply to Jog Scotland members). No entries will be accepted on the day.
2km Family Fun Run
Something for all the family to take part in, open to all ages. Run, jog or walk your way around the multiverse site. Starting from the North/South line you will take on the Comet Walk where you will be able to admire a 20 mile 360 degree view from the North Point. Descending through the swirls of the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxies you will then pass through the Sun Amphitheatre to the finish.
All participants will receive a finishers medal. This race will not be timed.
Under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult.
Online Entry Fee : £5 Scottish Athletics members, £7 non-members (discount does not apply to Jog Scotland members). Entries will be accepted on the day at an additional cost of £3.
This is a Scottish Athletics permitted race run under UK athletics rules.
Registration will be from 9.00am with the fun run commencing at 10.00am and 10km space race commencing at 11.00am. Registration for each race will close 15 minutes before race start.
Safety briefing will be given before each race, competitors should be ready to race 15 minutes beforehand.
There will be no road closures in operation. It is your responsibility to abide by the highway-code at all times. It is therefore not permitted to wear any headphones during this race.
By entering this race you are declaring that you are medically fit to participate and take part at your own risk.
Entries will close at midnight on Sunday 18th August.
No entries will be accepted on the day for 10km race. Entries will be accepted on the day for the fun run at an additional cost of £3.
Entrants wishing to withdraw must inform the organiser by email. Entry fees will be refunded or transferred as follows; up to (1 month prior to race date) 75% refund (less any Entry Central fees), up to (2 weeks prior to race date) 50% refund (less any Entry Central fees). After (2 weeks prior to race date) - no refund.
If the event is cancelled for reasons beyond the organiser’s control, (e.g. adverse weather conditions, major incident etc.) the organisers will make every reasonable attempt to reschedule the event or provide refunds (less admin costs).
Event proceeds will go towards the Crawick Multiverse Trust and the Triathlon Trust Dumfries and Galloway Project, giving children of all backgrounds and abilities across the region the opportunity to experience triathlon and engage in regular physical activity.

Crawick Multiverse is situated just off the A76 (Dumfries to Kilmarnock), 25 miles north of Dumfries, and is 15 miles from the M74 (Abington).
Travelling South on the A76 from Kilmarnock, pass through the village Kirkconnel, go approx. 2.5 miles towards Sanquhar , turn left on the B740 Crawfordjohn, as you travel on the B740 after 250m you will pass under a viaduct (rail bridge) take the 2nd exit on the left approximately 100m past the viaduct for Crawick Multiverse.
Travelling North on the A76 from Dumfries, pass through the village of Sanquhar as you leave the village you will turn right on to the B740 Crawfordjohn, as you travel on the B740 after 250m you will pass under a viaduct (rail bridge) take the 2nd exit on the left approximately 100m past the viaduct for Crawick Multiverse.
Travelling North on the M74 from Carlisle exit at Junction 13 Abington services, take the 2nd exit B7078, after 2.6 miles turn left on the B740, stay on this road for 13 miles turn right 100m before the prominent viaduct for Crawick Multiverse.
Travelling South on the M74 from Glasgow exit junction 13 Abington services, take the forth exit on the roundabout marked A702, head over the motorway take the 2nd exit B7078 after 2.6 miles turn left on the B740, stay on this road for 13 miles turn right 100m before the prominent viaduct for Crawick.
Parking will be available at the event.
