National IRCs  TS2 &TS3 Monday  28th August 2017 Mallory Park Leicestershire

The 2017  West Midlands IRC qualifying event is Super Tri Childrens Triathlon 1st July 2017 at Eton (organised by Human Race Events) - Please remember to enter the correct event High Performance Drafting 11-12 years and 13-14 years

Anyone wishing to qualify to represent the West Midlands at the 2017 IRCs must be:

  • Registered for West Midlands Junior Regional Series 2017
  • A Triathlon England member prior to the day of the qualifying event and up to and including 30/09/2017 it is essential that  West Midlands Region is shown on  your race licence

Athletes can only represent the region shown on their TE licence. Only TE members are eligible to represent the West Midlands at national races.  (A scanned copy of both sides of the TE licence must be e-mailed to   prior to the qualifying event).

This year we will be using ONE qualification race:

In the event of the qualifier being cancelled or postponed a decision will be made by the West Midlands Regional Committee for selection for the IRC's.

It is expected that anyone wishing to be considered for the team will enter and race at this event.  The first three across the line in each eligible category will be selected for the WM team.  The reserve place will be at the Team Mangers discretion and will be based upon performance at the qualification race, in conjunction with performance within the series to date.  The team selected will be notified as soon as possible following the event.  Three (+ 1 reserve) from each age group will be selected in total.

Those who qualify and the reserves will be required to attend IRC training days, dates for which are to be confirmed;

Saturday 15th July

Saturday 5th August

Saturday 26th August

There are 2 additional dates that are optional

Saturday 29th July (outside West Midlands, Hetton Lyons Park )

Sunday 30th July   (outside West Midlands, Hetton Lyons Park)

We appreciate that some of the training days clash with the regional series, however, we feel  there are sufficent events and flexible criteria within the series at this time.

Due to financial constraints, there are no funds in the budget for IRC kit and qualifying athletes will have to fund the required kit, unless sponsorship is found.

Just as a reminder, the IRCs are for age groups TS2 and TS3 only.

The aim of the selection process is to ensure the WM takes the best possible team to the IRCs in 2017.

Athletes may only represent one region in any one year and must represent the same region in Aquathlon and Triathlon.
