Keeping It Simple - Essential ChiWalking and Hill Skills (3 hours), Tarbert (10am-1pm)
In this 3 hour workshop we will be looking at the essentials of ChiWalking and how it can really help our everyday walking - both on the flat and up/down hills.
We all know how to walk but as the years go by we all pick up bad habits that create stress, tension and pain in our bodies. As a child we all walked naturally and efficiently. ChiWalking teaches us optimal alignment and balance, how to listen to our bodies and reduce impact on our body and reduce muscle fatigue by misuse or overuse.
What we will be covering in the workshop:
- An overview of the basic biomechanics of walking
- Work on optimal postural alignment, balance and relaxation for efficient, pain-free movement
- Foot mobility, stride length, use of arms
- Walking at different speeds
- How to tackle hills (up and own) with less stress on knees and back.
Following the class you will receive a short, slow motion video which will provide feedback on your individual walking style with recommendations for how to improve your walking form. This is included in the price of the workshop.
