Colne Engaine 5 and 10 Mile Fun Run
Sunday 1st September 2019 – Race starts 11.00am
from the Village Green
This will be the 4th annual 5 and 10 mile fun run
(Yes, it really is true! They're letting us loose on the village yet again!)
It will be combined with a children's run. Both events will be timed.
This is a country lane based fun run! Starting in the centre of the universe... well, okay the village green at Colne Engaine, the course takes you on a figure of 8 for the 5 mile run and if you're running 10 miles then you'll do the same figure of 8 twice ( we're super smart at maths us) The end of the run is a downhill dash, finishing with a sprint along Pebmarsh Road and back onto the village green to the sound of a roaring crowd.

Entries may be available on the day only if we have not reached our maximum number, an additional £1.00 per entrant will be charged
There will be one water station along the route, at Buntings Green- this is at the 2.5 / 7.5 mile point. Wet sponges and additional ater will also be available to those doing the 10 miles. (We're not sure yet whether to the sponges at you or let you help yourselves....) Water will also be available after the finish funnel. There are no road closures in operation and for this reason we also insist that headphones, MP3 devices or similar are not worn. If any entrant is seen/found to be ignoring this rule they will be disqualified and their time unpublished.
If you are wearing those bone conducting contraptions let us know in advance so that the marshals are informed of your number and you get a finish time.
Please collect your race number from the registration point in the village hall from 9.30 am. Your number is not transferable. The number should be securely fastened to the front of your top and be clearly visible at all times. Please ensure you complete the medical/emergency details on its reverse. Please also bring safety pins if you can. (we should have loads but people seem to collect them as souvenirs)
Parking for runners is available at the football ground along Pebmarsh Road. This is only a 5 minute walk to the village hall (you could use it for your warm-up). Please follow the directions of the marshals. Please be very courteous if parking in the residential roads near to the village hall. There are limited opportunities to park on the course given the narrow roads. If you do park outside of the football ground, please do not block drives or entrances to fields, as this event relies on the continued support of the local community and farmers - and taking on a John Deere tractor will not end well...
This can be left in the run HQ (village hall), at the owner's risk. Please use the labels provided to mark your race number on your bag. This area is secure and will be manned at all times, although we cannot accept liability for loss or damage. Your race number will be needed to collect your bag once the run has ended.
At the finish please proceed steadily through the funnel and keep in finishing order as you do so. Do not remove your number before geting through the funnel. Medals and water will be available after you leave the finish area.
There will be scrummy cakes, tea, coffee and cold drinks available either outside or inside the village hall, it will depend upon the weather! There will the now famous bacon butties too - one for every runner, no charge, we just ask for a donation towards our local charities, community groups and good causes
As mentioned above on the day entries will only be available if we have not reached our maximum number of entrants. We will keep our facebook page updated and of course the number of sign ups can be found on entry central. The on the day entries will open at approximately 9.00am in the village hall. If you have any problems or queries on the day, please ask at the information desk. On the day entries will close promptly at 10.30am to allow all runners to be herded up to the start.
If you find that for some reason you are unable to take part on 1st September there is the option to transfer your place to someone else (by the cut off date 31.8.19) or defer for a year (we hang on to your pennies and if the cost of the run increases you do not have to pay anthing more) Unfortunately we cannot defer for more than 1 year and refunds will not be given if you cannot attend the new date.
Children's fun run
In conjunction with the 5 and 10 mile fun run, we are also having a 1 mile fun run. This will take place on the recreation ground and field behind the village hall and will be completely 'off road'. As the route follows the edges of the fields it is not suitable for pushchairs. The route will be marshalled but all children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult. If your under 8 is quicker than you now is the time to start your training!
There will be medals and prizes for all children
