The Duathlon Series races are a bit 'no-frills', very newcomer-friendly, and a whole load of muddy fun. They are professionally organised, the courses are well marked and designed, and there will be chip timing (Sport Ident type). It's put together by Durty Events (www.durtyevents.com), the folks behind Craggy Island Triathlon, Selkirk MTB Marathon and Aviemore Triathlon.
Bowhill is a beatiful privately owned country house estate comprising a huge forest with complex path + track network, open moorland, and several small lochs. We're using the House Courtyard as Race HQ and Transition - it's got an on-site cafe for your friends and family to watch and await your glorious return, and even has proper loos!.
