Borders Cross Country winter series 2019/20

A very popular series of real cross country races

Dates for 2019/20 season.

  8. Chirnside Sunday 8th March 2020 (Presentation only round)

The Borders XC 2019/20 series will again be chip timed by keep it simple timing 

Seniors will collect a personal timing chip/tag at registration. This chip/tag is to be fixed to the runner's shoe and secured with the laces. The tag is kept for the series and returned to KitST after the last race. Any non-returned tags will be charged for at £20.

Please note the first seven races will determine the winners of the series " best of four from first seven rounds" The eighth race will be a presentation round only. However, the eighth race will be included as part of the four races necessary for a Borders XC Series medal. "Anyone completing four round or more will receive a medal"

Race start time: Juniors 11:30 am Seniors 12 Noon

Seniors will collect a bib number and personal timing chip at the first round which will be at the  Lauder Sports Pavillion. Registration will be open from 10:30am The timing tag is to be fixed to the runner's shoe and secured with the laces. The tag is kept for the series and returned to KitST after the last race. Any non-returned tags will be charged for at £20. It is important to ensure all tags are return on completion of your last race.

The event is open to runners aged 16 or over on the day of the first race.

The race is run under UK Athletics Rules and is a Scottish athletics permit event.

Entries

There is no additional fee for entering online. Please note that entry fees are nonreturnable.

Registration

Race Numbers and chip/Tag will be issued at Registration at the first event. Runners must collect their Race Number and Chip/tag no later than 11:00 am. Please bring a note of your race number, this can be found in your e-mail receipt. Race Numbers are not exchangeable and no-one will be allowed to run without one.

Code of conduct

As a responsible runner and/or spectator I agree : 

To act with dignity and display courtesy and good manners towards all others at all times – before, during and after the event;  

To avoid swearing, the use of abusive language, bullying, harassment, acts of violence, physical abuse and irresponsible behavior (which might be dangerous to me and others);  

To respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all those present and treat everyone equally;

  

To consistently promote positive aspects of the sport such as fair play and never condone rule violations;  

And, in order to uphold the ethos of the series, to refrain from posting inappropriate messages and/or photographs on social media.

Any runner who does not adhere to this Code of Conduct will be asked by their club not to take part in any remaining legs of the current series and any points accumulated to date will be discounted; if the runner subsequently ignores this request and runs in a future leg, then they will not be credited with any points.  

Any spectator who does not adhere to this Code of Conduct will be asked by their club not to attend any remaining legs of the current series.

 

Start

The race starts at 11:30 am for juniors and 12:00 for seniors. Please note that the organisers may delay the start of senior events if time is needed to complete junior races.

Numbers MUST be worn on the front and be visible. If original number is lost then a replacement must be visible and legible. Chip/tag to be worn on the shoe fixed to your laces.
Marshals instructions MUST be obeyed at all times.
Timekeepers are busy. DO NOT attempt to interrupt them while they are working. Results will be published on the internet as soon as possible.
