Free entry to the children's fun run.
Bib numbers for all entries are to be collected on the day, by no later than 10:15 am.
The minimum age for entry is 13 years old. Runners under the age of 18 on the day of the race must have parent's/guardian's permission.
The race uses a 2-lap course, on asphalt paths. Note that the course is identical to that used by Barking parkrun.
The start line is near the tennis courts. The course heads eastward for approximately 400 metres towards the allotments. There is then a short curve to the left, followed by a sharp left-hand downhill turn, bringing you alongside the lake which you'll then run alongside. Near the end of the lake, the course loops sharply round to the left, up a very slight incline, bringing you onto a tree-lined path running parallel with the lake. Once this path nears the start area, it curves round to the right. Turning right at the tennis courts, you'll shortly take a sharp left turn that takes you on a large loop round the park's main field. Halfway round the park's perimeter, you'll take a left-hand turn along a straight tree-lined path. At the end of the first lap, you'll take a sharp right turn at the far end of this path, to resume the course as above; at the end of the second lap, you'll carry on straight ahead for a few metres, where you'll cross the finish line.
Getting to the park:
The park is approximately 15 minutes' walk from Barking station, which is served by the District and Hammersmith & City tube lines, the London Overground, and mainline C2C rail services. There are also several bus routes stopping by or near the park. Limited car parking will be available within the park, via the South Park Drive entrance. There is another car park accessible via the main gate in Longbridge Road, but this may incur a charge.
Toilets and changing rooms (incl. for the disabled) will be available by the start and finish areas.
