Bethany Edinburgh Sportive 2017
Saturday 3 June
The 2017 Bethany Sportive is a mass participation cycling event in Midlothian and the Scottish Borders, taking place on the 3rd June 2017. Now in it's 9th year, this exciting event is growing from strength to strength. Whether you're a serious amateur, looking to try something new or just want to keep fit, there's something for you at the Bethany Sportive. The Bethany Sportive is an event run by the charity Bethany Christian Trust, to raise funds to support their work with homeless and vulnerable people. Every year, Bethany supports over 7,000 homeless and vulnerable people to find, equip and maintain a home within their local community. As well as meeting housing needs, Bethany provides support to individuals and families to help them tackle long-term homelessness problems, including addictions, debt, lack of furniture, unemployment and social isolation.

For all three routes riders leave from Lasswade High School, Bonnyrigg and head south over the Moorfoot Hills to Innerleithen where the Super Challenge and Challenge routes split. The Super Challenge route now takes a spectacularly scenic route around the borders and both routes meet again just west of Selkirk. For the Challenge route, riders return to Lasswade from Innerleithen via the River Tweed and Gala Water valleys. Both the Super Challenge and Challenge routes then return to the High School over the Moorfoot Hills once more. The Taster route breaks off from the Super Challenge and Challenge routes near Temple, heading south-west until looping around to join the return sections of the other routes near North Middleton. For more details please see 'The Routes' page on the Bethany Sportive website.
Each participant will be individually timed and the finishing times will be published on the Bethany website after the event. Feed and water stations will also be on hand offering the riders refreshments along the way. Entries are limited to 400 with an entry fee of £39 per entrant for the Super Challenge and Challenge Routes and £26 per entrant for the Taster Challenge Route. Early bird rates are available until the 29th February - Super Challenge and Challenge £36 and Taster Route £23.
