Free car parking will be provided close to the race start area. Just follow the signposts and marshall instructions. Where possible please car share.
For competitor, spectator and marshal safety reasons please do not move your car from the race car park until after 12.30pm and even then follow the marshal instructions. If you must be able to move your car before 12.30pm then please inform a car parking marshal on arrival and special arrangements can be made.
The course is entirely off road following footpaths and farmland around and over the steep 600ft Berrow Hill. The climb will be worth it as the views are spectacular looking over much of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Shropshire. The route is mostly run on private land so this is great opportunity to enjoy a normally inaccessible gem of the county. Due to the nature of the course appropriate footwear is required for your own safety and enjoyment, the organisers suggest a good pair of trail shoes. A course map will be released shortly before the race.
Facilities : Toilets will be provided at the start and finish area. Due to rural location there won't be changing rooms or showers at race HQ so please come prepared.
Sustenance : There will be a water station approximately halfway along the route. To minimise plastic waste disposable cups won't be provided so please bring your own cups to refill. Fruit will be offered at the finish line to refuel.
Personal health : Sport has many well publicised physical and mental health benefits though there are risks which should considered before entering into such activity. The Berrow Blaze is designed to be challenging so it definitely should be considered to be a strenuous physical activity. For your own safety please only take part if you are fit enough to cope. If you have any concerns then please consult professional medical advice before taking part.
The course has steep ascents that will certainly get your heart and lungs working hard and steep descents that will require good coordination and footwear.
Please feel welcome to join the Berrow Blaze Facebook group which will provide you with race preparation updates and a chance to meet online some of your fellow Berrow Blazers. The group can be found on Facebook by searching "Berrow Blaze Forum".
In keeping with our club ethos the Worcestershire Trailblazers will endeavour to make the Berrow Blaze an environmentally friendly race. We propose to achieve this through our low carbon footprint medal and award design, our non plastic/paper waste water stop, encouraging car sharing, a paper free advertising and sign-up method plus handing out tree seeds to all participants to help promote a better planet.
The Worcestershire Trailblazers cherish the fantastic trail running opportunities Worcestershire has to offer and would love to share this passion with you through our own race.
