ArranMan Triathlon Festival returns for a 4th year, this time featuring Middle and Standard Triathlons as well as stand alone 1 mile and 5km open water swims, the marathon and a new 10km athletics race and a Jnr Aquathlon.

7am Middle Distance Triathlon - including team race

8am Standard Distance Triathlon

12.20pm 10km run

12.30pm Marathon Run

1.30pm Jnr Aquathlon

2pm 5km swim (Lamlash to Holy Isle and back)

2.10pm 1 Mile swim

 

The triathlons are timed so that riders can complete most of the course on relatively empty roads prior to the first ferry departure / arrival.

The stand alone running and swimming events are timed so that athletes can get the 1st ferry over (2nd for swim) from the mainland.

Compulsory Triathlon Race Briefings

The triathlon race briefings will take place in Lamlash at 5pm on the Saturday evening

All triathletes must attend. Non attendence = no race.

Registration will be from 3pm - 5pm

The MIDDLE course features an open water sea swim in the sheltered Lamlash Bay off Arran’s East coast, followed by an anti-clockwise bike course using the round island 56 mile road, then loops of a 10.5km shore-hugging run course... probably the flattest most scenice marathon course in the UK.

 

The Standard Triathlon bike course will take athletes high up over The Ross towards Lagg and return anticlockwise via the coast road. It is the hilliest Standard Triathlon bike course in the UK.

Equipment: 

Please see Triathlon Scotland Rules. Wet suits and cycle helmets are obligatory and neoprene swim caps recommended. A rule excemption will be applied for from TS to allow neoprene footwear during the swim.

Nutrition: 

High5 gels and powder will be available at the feed stations. For the Iron Distance there will also be a selection of goodies like bananas, flat coke, pretzels, mars bars etc etc

Middle - 2 feed stations on cycle loop, 2 feed stations on run loop.

Standard - no feed on bike, 2 feed stations on run loop

We will provide a big bowl of pasta for each athlete at the finish.

Getting There:

Arran is accessed by a 1 hour CalMac ferry crossing from Ardrossan to Brodick or a 30 minute ferry from Claonaig to Loch Ranza. In 2015&16 the ferries were fully booked for vehicles a month prior to race weekend. You are advised to book your ferry as soon as possible.

At busy times there is limited space for cycles. If travelling to Arran as a foot passanger please bear this in mind. We would hate it if your bike did not get on the boat.

 

Overnight Bike Storage:

On Saturday night there will be an indoor secure bike storage facitlity in Lamlash near to transition for Middle & Standard Distance Athletes.

 

 Accommodation:

The island has a huge number of hotels and B&Bs, however last year it was fully booked for the weekend, so book earlyhttp://www.visitarran.com/where-to-stay

Lamlash has an excellent campsite only 300m for Race HQ / Start / Transition / Finish. http://www.middletonscamping.com/Middletons_Camping_-_Home.html

The Lochranza Outdoor Centre are offering accommodation and athlete / bike transfers. contact chris@lochranzacentre.co.uk  £20 a night for a bunk in a room to £35 for twin ensuite. £5 for brekfast £10 Evening meal. Although it is at the other end of the island, it is perfect if you like whisky... why?

There will be NO REFUNDS and NO TRANSFERS. If you become unable to make the event you will be able to defer your entry to 2017. Please only sign up if you know you can make the event.

1.9km swim in Lamlash bay followed by 90km bike round Arran as part of ArranMan multi sport weekend.

 It's basically a triathlon without the boring bit at the end. You start at the same time as the middle distance triathletes, youswim, you get changed in transition, you jump on your bike then after your ride you watch everyone else suffer on the run whilst you enjoy the view and cheer them on.

8am Standard Distance Triathlon

12.20pm 10km run

12.30pm Marathon Run

1.30pm Jnr Aquathlon

2pm 5km swim (Lamlash to Holy Isle and back)

2.10pm 1 Mile swim

 

The triathlons are timed so that riders can complete most of the course on relatively empty roads prior to the first ferry departure / arrival.

The stand alone running and swimming events are timed so that athletes can get the 1st ferry over (2nd for swim) from the mainland.

We will provide coach transport to Lamlash from Brodick Ferry terminal for all 10km & marathon athletes who travel on the 09:45 Ardrossan ferry departure. Athletes are responsible for their own return travel to Brodick and ferry transport costs.

Nutrition: 

High5 gels and powder will be available at the feed stations.

We will provide a big bowl of pasta for each athlete at the finish.

Getting There:

Arran is accessed by a 1 hour CalMac ferry crossing from Ardrossan to Brodick or a 30 minute ferry from Claonaig to Loch Ranza. In 2015&16 the ferries were fully booked for vehicles a month prior to race weekend. You are advised to book your ferry as soon as possible.

At busy times there is limited space for cycles. If travelling to Arran as a foot passanger please bear this in mind. We would hate it if your bike did not get on the boat.

The island has a huge number of hotels and B&Bs, however last year it was fully booked for the weekend, so book earlyhttp://www.visitarran.com/where-to-stay

Lamlash has an excellent campsite only 300m for Race HQ / Start / Transition / Finish. http://www.middletonscamping.com/Middletons_Camping_-_Home.html

 

There will be NO REFUNDS and NO TRANSFERS. If you become unable to make the event you will be able to defer your entry to 2017. Please only sign up if you know you can make the event.

We don't give you any cheap bling or unwanted tat. If you want a medal you will have to finish in a podium position.
