Winter Solstice Run 2016
5 & 10km
In aid of The Spinal Injuries Association
Sunday 18th December 2016
The run will start at 10am from the old DNR Hangers at the old RAF Wroughton at Uffcott
Registration will be open from 9:15-9:45am and this is where you will receive your bib number. Please put your number on the front of your t-shirt with the safety pins provided.
Make sure you bring your signed SIA registration form with you which can be found on the werun4 website, just print it out fill it in and bring it with you to registration on the day.
If you do not hand in a completed and signed SIA registration form you will not be covered by our insurance and therefore will not be able to run.
(Some spare forms will be available on the day for those who forget or mislay theirs).
Entrance fees are;
- 5km £10
- 10km £15
All Distances Day Entry Fee Will Be £20
The route is 100% off-road trail, which is firm under foot, but I’m sure that there will be a muddy puddle or two to enjoy! In the event of inclement weather, the event will not be cancelled (Only if there is thunder, lightning and a hurricane actually taking place at 10am may we be forced to cancel it, only maybe mind!), and please make sure your footwear is suitable.
We have unlimited parking on-site just a few metres from the Start / Finish line
There will be a water station at the 10k turn around point at Hackpen White Horse. Nutrition will be on hand in the form of gels and bananas, but you may like to bring your own as well.
The Venue is the DNR Hangers at the old RAF Wroughton (The same place as where this years Half Marathon was)
If you take the Wroughton - Avebury road A4361 to the small village of Uffcott there will be signs & marshalls to guide you to the venue.
The run takes in the beautiful scenery of the Ridgeway and Barbury Castle and the stunning views over the Marlborough Downs, but we shouldn't forget the event is all about raising funds for The Spinal Injuries Association (Charity Registration No. 1054097). SIA gives great support to over 40,000 people and their families each year who are dealing with life changing spinal injuries, including my father in-law and our family since he was paralysed in a road traffic accident in 2011. This run is about raising funds, but it is important to us too that there is lots of big smiles, lots of fun, and hopefully lots of wonderful memories to take home.
