Tunnel Vision Night and Dawn Runs

17 Nov 16

Welcome to the Tunnel Vision Night and Dawn Runs

We know that you love running in the dark. Some of you prefer it in the morning and others at night. Now you can do both.

The popular Night Run starts at 7.30pm on Thursday 17th November and the new Dawn Run at 6.30am on Friday 18th November.

You enter one or both of them. Both routes take in the very long and very dark Oxendon Tunnel. At 422m long, the old railway tunnel really is an imposing sight and pitch black. So we've decided to light it and provide a unique opportunity for you to run through it ....and back again. The Dawn Run has the added bonus of a sunrise to enjoy too.

As you know, November is a special period for the town with the month long Mo'ket Harborough campaign. In 2014 it raised approximately £16,000 and we at Race Harborough HQ, decided we wanted to do our bit. Tunnel Vision was born in 2015 and the event itself raised approximately £1500 for the campaign.

Tunnel Vision is an out and back, 5 mile running race. Long enough to be a challenge for quality athletes and short enough to be achievable for less experienced runners looking for a challenge.

The entry fee is £15 for a single race and £20 for both. From that, a donation of £2.00 will go straight to the Movember Foundation.

A discount of £1.00 is available to members of affiliated running, cycling, swimming and triathlon clubs and registered parkrunners. Simply enter your club name or barcode to receive the discount when you checkout.

When you complete the Night Run you will be presented with a Mo'ket Harborough Tunnel Vision momento and a cup of delicious fresh vegetable soup. You will love it so much we'll send you the recipe afterwards! At the turnaround point, you will also receive a pair of glow in the dark glasses for you to wear ready for your finish line photo.

After the Dawn Run, a delicious glass of fruit juice and of course a dawn related momento.

You might be wondering about the glasses?

Davis Optometrists are proud to be supporting the local community and sponsoring the Tunnel Vision runs. Practice Manager, Lynn Carson, says: “We are delighted to be supporting this very worthwhile cause and happy to be providing hot soup at the finish line, which I’m sure will be most welcomed by the runners!” Davis are also inviting entrants the opportunity to book an eye test with them and receive £25 off the price of eyewear upon production of a confirmation email, within 6 months of the race. So there are plenty of incentives to join in the fun, and lots of time for training – we’ll see you at the finish line!

We're sure that many of you will be growing your own moustache as part of the campaign and this will be a great chance to show your off mo.  There are a load of special prizes for fundraisers. Keep an eye out on the Facebook page for more details.

Although the tunnel will be lit, it is still a good idea to bring a head torch. In fact, bring as many neon, flashy, glowy things as you own. We do have a basic head torch available to buy when you enter priced at £5.

As well as the delicious soup, our friends at Duncan Murray Wines in association with the Box Steam Brewery bring you another post race recovery option. A delicious selection of quality bottled ales.

The selection includes not only a beer so good they named a night run after it (not really!), Tunnel Vision (light amber) but also Piston Broke (golden ale), Funnel Blower (porter) and Derail Ale (zesty pale ale). These usually retail at £2.89 but we can offer them with a 20% discount at £2.30. These must be preordered, when you enter. There will not be any extras sold on the night. Please tell us exactly which beers you would like or if you are happy with a selection.

We look forward to seeing you on the night of the 17th and on the morning of the 18th. Dogs are welcome but they must be on a lead, under control and only one person per dog. Push chairs are also welcome.
