Organiser's Description


The 2019 Trent Park Aquathlon will take place on Sunday 2nd June at Furzefield Leisure Centre, Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, Herts, EN6 3BW

This is the fifteenth year of our aquathlon and once again we welcome non-club members to the event.
The swim will be in the 33m pool, the run will be within the playing fields and woodland adjacent to the centre.
The seniors (15+) race will cover a 400m (12 length) swim and a 5K two lap run, Tristars from 9 years (minimum age) will cover a range of distances from a 100m swim and 1.6K run (9 - 10 years) to 200m swim and 2.4K run (11 - 14 years) 15 year olds have the option of the 200m / 2.4K race or the senior 400m swim and 5K run.

The event is suitable for both novice and experienced triathletes.

This year we will for the first time be using chip timing and have had to increase the entry fee to cover the basic cost of providing the service, entry for the event is £22.00 for seniors and £15.00 for Juniors. Members of Triathlon England / BTF home nations must show an up to date race licence, if you are not a member of British Triathlon you will need to purchase a BTF day licence costing £3.00 seniors and £1.00 juniors, if you do not show your TE licence when registering at the event you will be required to purchase a day licence costing £5 and £3 respectively to cover administration costs.

Furzefield Leisure Centre is in Potters Bar, the event will take place enirely within the centre's grounds.
The centre has plenty of free parking adjacent to the pool and transition area.
The race is a British Triathlon Federation sanctioned event and will be run in accordance with BTF competition rules, the rules are based on safety and fairness, please see this link for a copy of the rules.

 

This is the fifteenth year of the TPRC aquathlon and we welcome both members of TPRC and non-members of our club to the event.
The will be held at the Furzefield Leisure Centre in Potters Bar, EN6 3BW map here. The swim will be in the 33m indoor pool and the run will be entirely within the centre's grounds and woodland. The event is suitable for novices as well as experienced competitors including juniors (minimum age 15).

The senior event will consist of a 400m swim (12 lengths) followed by a 5K two lap run

REGISTRATION - Will be open from 8.00am for seniors and close promptly at 8.45am. Junior registration is from 9.00am until 9.45am. Please arrive in plenty of time, you will not be allowed to race if you miss registration.

RACE BRIEFING – 8.45am seniors / 9.45am juniors - The race briefing will take place beside the transition area. Attendance is compulsory. The race briefing will inform you of any last minute route changes and safety points. If you have any questions or queries on race day, please ask them after the Race Briefing.

RACE START / SWIM – 9.00am seniors / 10.00am juniors - The swim will be a 400m / 12 length "snake" style swim, your start time will be based on your estimated swim time, please enter a realistic swim time on the registration form so that we can avoid mixing slow and fast swimmers. You will line up along the side of the pool ready to start under the gudance of the swim director, all competitors must be on poolside for the start of the swim.

TRANSITION AREA - You will be required to set up your transition area prior to the event starting. The transition area will be open from 8.00am. The area will be separated into senior and junior sections.

THE RUN - The run course is fully marshalled and follows a relatively flat off road course within the centre's playing fields. Seniors will run 2 laps for a total of 5K. Ordinary running shoes are advised, spikes are NOT allowed.

RESULTS - We will be using chip timing this year and expect the results to be available when the last competitor in a wave has finished, individual results should be available as soon as you finish.
