Stirling Junior & Adult Aquathlon 2016 & Aquathlon Super Sprint Team Relay

The Stirling Aquathlon is an established classic on the Scottish Racing Calendar and once again will run the event in conjunction with a Super Sprint Team Relay, this time after the main event.

This race is set within the grounds of one of Europe’s most picturesque University grounds, using the Scottish Swimming's elite training pool. These training facilities are also used by World and Olympic level triathletes and home for Scotland's elite triathletes.

Junior Aquathlon

The Junior Aquathlon is open to competitors aged from 8 to 16 inclusive (based on competitor's age at end of this year - please see below for further details). Please select the correct event for your age group.

The junior course is totally traffic free, the run section is on grass playing fields ensuring competitor safety at all times. This is a similar course to the Junior Triathlon, which has run successfully at Stirling University over the last few years.

Senior Aquathlon

Adults will race over 750m in the Scottish Swimming Academy pool followed by a 2 laps course making up a 5km run section. Anyone over the age of 17 is classed as senior.

Relay Events

Following the success of last years’ test event, we are repeating the relay event for both seniors and juniors, designed to allow Scotland’s top multisport clubs to compete against each other.

All teams of four, both senior and junior will be made up of two males and two females. The junior team must also have one individual from each of the following age groups: 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-16. Any teams outwith this criteria can still take part, but they will be deemed non-competitive.

Each athlete will swim 50m and run 600m before tagging the next team member waiting in the pool. Both the junior and senior relay events will take place ahead of the junior event.

There will be twelve team places available for both the junior and senior events and we will reserve places for different clubs to nominate teams (but will allow clubs to enter additional teams nearer the event if places remain available).

Car parking: Ample parking can be found by driving up the hill past the Swimming Pool, take the 2nd exit off the mini-roundabout then take the immediate left into the car-park.

Changing: Available in the Gannochy Building. Bring a £1 coin for the lockers. We advise against using the swimming pool changing rooms as there is public swimming on before and after our event.

Race Details

Triathlon age groups are based on age at end of the year. e.g. If you're 11th birthday is coming up this Summer then you'll race in the 11-12 age group, even though you'll only be 10 on the day of the race. This ensures that you race against the same people all year through.

Refund Policy At the organiser's discretion, 50% refunds (minus EntryCentral processing fees) will be issued to any competitor who withdraws from the event more than 28 days before the event. Withdrawals after that date will be refunded if, and only if the competitors place can be filled from a waiting list. No Refunds will be issued after the event closing date.
