MACC Challenge 2016
12 Nov 16
The MACC Challenge is back for its third year on Saturday 12th November 2016 at MACC Business Park.
Set on a former military airbase, the MACC Challenge will put you through your paces using the site's natural and built landscape to create a series of testing obstacles featuring mud crawls, water channels our infamous PANIC ROOM!
The land has kindly been made available for the event by Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) who purchased the 1,000 acre site from the Ministry of Defence in 2012.
The course is approximately 5 miles with around 30 obstacles. The challenge is NOT be timed, there are no prize winners and it is for enjoyment only. We encourage entrants to work together or in teams to help each other along.
A full Welcome Pack will be emailed to all entrants two weeks prior to the event but in the meantime, some key information can be found below:
Our chosen local charity this year is Shopper-Aide Campbeltown which was set-up in 2011 to help support older people living in Kintyre. Offering grocery shopping, befriending and extra household support, Shopper-Aide's staff and volunteers now provide an important service to housebound residents and those who would otherwise struggle to live independently. We aim to fundraise for this worthy cause and we would like to encourage our entrants to collect sponsors for our chosen charity for 2016. Please contact Claire McFadzean for a sponsorship form - firstname.lastname@example.org
Registration will take place from 10am to 10.45am at the Officers Mess which is close to car park (map will be included in Welcome Pack). A safety briefing will take place prior to each wave which you will sign up for on the day. You must attend the safety briefing to take part in this event otherwise you will lose your place.
You will receive confirmation via email so please input an accurate email address in when entering. No information will be sent in the post. Please take your confirmation with you to registration.
There will be one water stop approximately mid distance of the route. Due to the challenging nature of the course we advise all entrants have had an energy fuelled breakfast!
The route is staged in fragile natural environments - please ensure that any litter is left at marshal points. There will be refreshments at the finish area for all entrants.
Health and Safety
The route will be well marked and monitored by marshals. If you do not want or cannot fulfil the obstacle or power station, the marshal will offer an alternative for you. However, please note that due to the nature of this challenge there is a high degree of risk and that competitors take FULL responsibility for themselves during the event.
Organisers fully advise that you take out your own health and accident insurance to cover you during the event as no insurance or liability will be provided by the organisers.
Parking, travel and accommodation
On-site parking will be provided within the parade square which is close to the registration area and main entrance. For SATNAV directions, use Post Code: PA28 6NU. There is 24hour security in operation at the site entrance therefore you may be asked to show your entry confirmation on arrival.
