Loch Katrine Running Festival
19 Mar 17
The 2017 Event takes place on Sunday 19th March
This event will be raising funds for Alzheimer Scotland
Race start: 9 am Marathon, 10 am Half Marathon & 10k
Registration: opens at 8 am, numbers collected on the day. Please ensure that you have collected your number 30 minutes before your race start time.
It is a ‘no frills’ event, with costs minimised to ensure that the bulk of the entry fees are donated to Alzheimer Scotland.
There are 3 distances available
10km, entry £13.
Half marathon, entry £16.
Marathon, entry £22.
The entry fee includes a small charge that will be passed to the Trossachs pier to cover parking and use of facilities.
There is no waiting list for 2017.
There is a no refund policy on this event. Deferred entry is at the discretion of the race director.
Each race is an out and back route which will start and finish at the Trossachs Pier (not Stronachlachar), and be run along the scenic lochside road. This is a private road with a small amount of vehicle and cycle traffic. There are excellent views over the loch and surrounding countryside, and some challenging undulations, especially for the marathon runners. The marathon will take runners from the pier to Stronachlachar and back.
The distances will be measured and marked, but entrants should note that they may not be exact.
Water stations will be approximately every 4 miles, and the route will be marshalled. There will be first aid available at the top and bottom end of the loch.
Medals for all finishers.
No entries on the day.
There is limited parking at the pier, toilet and café facilities.
Whilst there is a reasonable amount of parking at the pier, it is limited and we ask that you car share where possible. We also encourage runners and supporters to visit the cafe.
This is currently not a SAL event.
Event insurance information will be displayed at registration.
Please ensure that you add the race contact email audrey@lkrunning to your email safe sender list.
There is also a Facebook Group for the event where there will be additional information posted.
The 'Triple Crown' title is awarded to any runner who has completed all three events in order of distance over 3 consecutive years.
Additional Info for Marathon:
There is no or very limited mobile phone signal over the top half of the loch, approximately miles 6 - 20. If a runner requires assistance or wishes to withdraw please try to walk to a water station or flag down one of the cycle marshalls and a vehicle will be dispatched to collect you.
This event is part of on-going fundraising that Audrey McIntosh does for Alzheimer Scotland begun in 2013 and so far raising over £20k for the charity. More information about this and my fundraising can be found on the website.
