The Linda Franks Road Race 2020

The race is now full but we are operating a waiting list (numbers for this restericted to 100).

The 26th Linda Franks Race will take place on Sunday 19th January 2020. This is a measured 5-mile course over two loops around the Reddings and Hatherley. Race HQ, and registration, is at the Reddings Community Centre. Please note that the Arle Court Park & Ride car park is now subject to a £6 all-day parking charge. We are seeking (additional) alternative parking nearby and will keep you updated.

This is a popular race and is again part of the Gloucestershire AAA Road Race series.

Refunds and transfers:

We are using EntryCentral's waiting list. If you are unable to use your place, please email us (use the email icon link) and your place will be passed on to the next person on the waiting list. You will be refunded your entry fee, minus the administration fee that Entry Central takes.

Transfers will be accepted until Wednesday 15th January. After this date, no more transfers will be taken. No entries, or transfers, will be taken on the day.

Anyone running under someone else's number without following the appropriate transfer process will be disqualified. 

Race Distance: 5 Miles

This is an extremely popular 5mile race consisting of 2 laps of the course. Details of the route will be available from the race page.

Race Start: 9.00 am

Race Entry: Online entry (once a transfer place becomes available) £11.00 Affiliated club member, £13.00 Unattached. Please note you must enter your UKA URN number if you are entering as an affiliated athlete (this will be automatically verified).

All abilities and ages welcome (minimum age on race day 15).

Prizes: for 1st, 2nd, 3rd men and ladies (any age) and 1st wheelchair athlete.

Age-category prozes as follows:

  1st MV40, MV50, MV60, MV70.

  1st FV35, FV45, FV55, FV65.

Men’s and Ladies’ team prizes (first three runners to count, wearing Club Colours).

(Please note any runner winning a 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize will not also be eligible for an age category prize, ie they will not win 2 prizes).

There are limited changing facilities at Race HQ and no secure kit storage area.  However, you are welcome to leave your personal belongings in the community centre at your own risk. 

Parking: As stated, the Arle Court Park & Ride car park (5-10 minute walk from HQ) is now subject to a £6 all-day parking charge. We are seeking alternative parking nearby but the use of B&Q, Nuffield Hospital and Asda car parks is prohibited. We are seeking to secure parking close to the Manor By The Lake and will update you on this. We encourage car sharing and use of other forms of transport so as to minimise the impact on public parking and appreciate your efforts in this respect.

Please do not park at Race HQ as these facilities are limited and reserved for race officials and volunteers. 

Registration & Briefing Instructions: Registration Time:  7.45 am - 8.45 am. Briefing Time: 10 mins prior to race start. Race numbers to be collected from the registration desk on race day. You will not receive anything by post.

Competitors must attend the race briefing on the day. Information on the course and rules relative to competitor safety will be outlined at the briefing (the full route will be on the Almost Athletes website prior to the race and in Race HQ on the day).  Runners will be walked to the start by marshals ahead of the Race Briefing at 8.50.  The race will start at 8.55am for wheelchair athletes and 9.00am for other runners. 

Race Information: Please attach your bib number to your front while racing so that it can be clearly seen.  If the weather is 'seasonal' and you choose to wear a jacket, please ensure that your number remains visible (this is to ensure we can accurately record the times - if we can't see your bib number, we can't record any time for you!).  Competitor details (name, address, emergency contact and all relevant medical information must be written on the reverse of the race number prior to taking part).  Race belts may also be used. Competitors may not race with somebody else’s number. 

PLEASE NOTE - All in-ear listening devices are prohibited. Runners wearing any such device will be disqualified. If you intend to use bone-conducting devices, please inform the race team (this is to ensure that we do not disqualify you should an on-course marshal report you).
