Market Harborough Santa Fun Run 2016
11 Dec 16
Sunday 11th December 2016
What better way to get warmed up for the festive period than a run or walk in a beautiful local park with a load of people dressed like Santa!
- The run will take place in Welland Park, Market Harborough on Sunday 11th December at 2pm starting at the café in the park.
- Registration will be outside the café and will open from 12pm where you will collect your race number and your Santa suit.
- There will also be an additional opportunity to register at Snap Fitness, during the week of the event. More details to follow.
- There are two run/walk distances available, the 5k and 2k.
- There is a strict limit of 650 entrants. We have increased the number of places from last year as this event sold out.
Either distance can be completed by adults or children. We ask that under 11’s are accompanied by an adult at all times. Parents with buggies, wheelchairs and dog walkers with dogs on leads are also welcome.
We challenge everyone to raise just £10.
With a full 650 entries that will make £6.5K. Our nominated charity is the Squires Effect. They work by connecting local charities and good causes with fundraisers. If you have a good cause in mind, please contact them. They are always open to ideas.
There is a sponsor form for you to use on the Race Harborough website.
The route starts on the path outside the café. Heading towards the kids playground, you will pass the award winning rose garden. When you reach the big stone by the entrance to the playground, you have reached the start of the loop. The clockwise loop will be completed once if you are doing the 2K and 3 times for the 5k. After your loops you will return to the café, the way that you first came. The loop goes right around the outskirts of the park. All of the course will be well signed and marshalled. It will be impossible to get lost!
On the Day
As a bonus, we will have a special guest entering the race.......... a Christmas pudding. The first runner to catch the Christmas pudding will win £100 for the charity of their choice. Last year, Gareth Wood managed to catch him and donated £100 to MSF.
There is also a special Christmas Elf that will be distributing festive gifts to the younger runners as they go round the course.
It’s not only you that has an excuse to get dressed up, why not bring along your furry friends and dress them up too! Prize for the best dressed dog awarded by Paws4Walking. http://www.paws4walking.co.uk
There will live music to entertain the crowds and keep you motivated. Again this year we see the return of the fabulous Market Harborough Ukulele Group! http://www.mhug.co.uk
Refreshments will be available from the fabulous cafe. Roy's team will have hot and cold food and drink available before and after the event. Please bring along any spare change, as the Squires Effect will have a kid's present tombola to help raise more money for their amazing charity.
