Organiser's Description

A great early season testing circular course of between 11.5 - 12 miles (the route has not been officially measured) on quiet open roads, from our new starting / finishing point at Speddoch Hall, proceeding clockwise towards the Routin Bridge, across to Shawhead, up to and alongside the Glenkiln Reservoir, over Speddoch Hill and back to the finish. The route is undulating with the road running through open moorland in places and with some fantastic views - weather permitting. There are 4 cattle grids along the route and care must be taken when crossing these.

Included in this:

    • Chip timing
    • 2 water stops on the route
    • Water and snack at the finish - supported by donations from Bob & Bert's.
    • Marshalled route
    • First aid

All this for just a £2.00 entry fee.  Entry on the day will be available, at £4.

This will take place between 9.30am and 10.15am at Speddoch Hall (near Dunscore DG2 9TZ) where you will collect your race number and timing chip. There will be a race brief at 10.25am which all runners must attend and the start will be in the Hall car park at 10.30am. Please follow any instructions provided by marshals. The recently built Speddoch Hall provides car parking (please consider car sharing), toilet facilities and you can leave a bag (at your own risk).

We will be operating as per UK Athletics rules and under Scottish Athletics permit. No entries or transfers will be possible so please do not ask. Likewise, there will be no refunds given once you enter, so please don’t take a place if you’re unsure about running on the day. If the race is unable to go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances or adverse course conditions, which would impact on the safety of competitors, we will post notice of this on the Dumfries Harriers website and Facebook page, the day before.

To ensure safety of competitors the route will be marshalled at key points throughout, and we will be operating a lead bicycle and a last runner sweeper.

We will have hot drinks and cakes available in Speddoch Hall from about 11.15am for a small donation to our charity fund. Full results will be posted on the website and Facebook page later in the day.
