GRC Fauldhouse Youth Aquathlon
02 Oct 16
Welcome to the GRC Fauldhouse Youth Aquathlon. We return to our home at the Fauldhouse Partnership Centre. The race continues to form part of the Triathlon Scotland Tristars and Youth Aquathlon Series.
Many of the current performance programme athletes started out competing in aquathlons, but it is also a great opportunity to meet and make new friends. Further, any athlete who completes in four or more events can achieve a series ranking with overall positions decided using the competitor's best four events. Points are awarded equally across the series events, with 10 points for a win, nine for second down to one, awarded to every competitor. In the event of a tied position at the end of the series, the standing is shared.
Points are also awarded to the clubs ranking for the Aquathlon Series. Important - to be eligible to win an overall ranking series award, participants must be a member of triathlonscotland. To find out more on this series and see a full list of events please visit here http://www.triathlonscotland.org/youth.
The event comprises of a pool swim followed by an outdoor run. The run course is totally traffic free and marshalled, ensuring competitor safety at all times. All run distances will be marked as well as being marshalled.
The event will be held at the Fauldhouse Partnership Centre and will run from 11:00 to approximately 13:30.
Registration will be from 10 - 10:40 at the swimming pool entrance and race briefing at 10:50.
The Junior Aquathlon is open to competitors aged from 8 to 16 inclusive - based on competitor's age at end of this year. While we appreciate that it may be difficult to accurately predict the swim time, please be aware that we will be unable to make any alterations to the swim lanes on the day of the event so please ensure as to estimate as best as possible. If in any doubt please contact the event organiser.
The race distances are as follows:
Triathlon age groups are based on age at end of the year. e.g. If you're 11th birthday is coming up this Winter then you'll race in the 11-12 age group, even though you'll only be 10 on the day of the race. This ensures that you race against the same people all year through.
