Guy Fawkes 5
03 Nov 2019
GF5 - 5 mile road race.
Entries opened in tranches on 9th, 10th & 11th August to give everyone a fair chance of entering. The waiting list is now closed! Sorry if you missed-out.
Tewkesbury running club's popular November 5 mile run. A flat course with just two bridges to cross. On country lanes with very little traffic. Race HQ is Tewkesbury School just off Junction 9 M5. Everything you need will be there including Gloucester Sports shop - for your race day needs, the changing rooms, toilets, showers, First Aid, helpers, coffee, teas, and devilish cakes. Important; your race number & timing chip will be in the Sports Hall and afterward you can collect your race T-shirt. Results and presentations will be there too.
Unfortunately, the course is not suitable for wheelchairs or buggies due to further road modifications and health & safety concerns.

Date and Time
Sunday 3rd November 2019 at 11.00am
Now a chip-timed course, which means as you cross the 'start mat' your chip timer starts and stops when you cross the finish mat. The route is a frying pan in shape; you take in the first few hundred meters before turning right to travel an anti-clockwise course towards the relatively new Walton Cardiff housing development - this is a wide footpath with 3 road crossings that will be marshalled (please be careful here as there are kerbs and our marshalls cannot stop traffic - only warn of their approaching). Just before the 2 mile mark, there is a left turn to the easterly direction. From here, there may be the odd vehicle so please stay to the left at all times. The course hops over the M5 motorway twice and this is the only time inclines are met. After 4.5 miles you'll rejoin the 'pan handle' with a right turn and retrace your first 500 meters to cross the finish line.
Marshalls will be at all key sections of the course and signs will be in place.
Entry is online only through EntryCentral. £15 (£13 with EA discount). Runner pays a small admin fee to EntryCentral.
Parking is restricted on the School grounds due to a Motorhome Expo near the Sportshall. However, we will be advising on parking areas nearer the date with the adjoining Alderman Knight School, parking off Shannon Way on the various business car parks and areas all the way down to Morrisons supermarket near the start line.
Race HQ and Registration
Tewkesbury Sports Hall, Ashchurch Road, Tewkesbury GL20 8DF.
Race Start and Finish
The race will start at 11.00am at the entrance to Walton Cardiff Lane GL20 8BP. The finish will be a few yards into the lane and we would like runners to keep to the left-hand side as they finish to ensure their chip-time.
Souvenir T-shirts will be for your collection in the Sportshall. The presentation of the prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female runners will be presented back at the Sportshall. For the first time, we will award a trophy to the 1st male & female overall in addition to vouchers. There will also be prizes for 1st in each (5 year) age category. This year we will be awarding a team prize - the winning 'team' will be 3 males + 2 females with the lowest position count.
Age groups; Male MJ, SM, M40, M45, M50, M55, M60, M65, M70, M75+ Female FJ, SF, F35, F40, F45, F50, F55, F60, F65, F70, F75+ (subject to at least 2 competitors in each age group)
Nb. To cut down on environmental waste, you need to select that you want a medal on the entry form (we appreciate many runners want a medal and we appreciate many runners aren't fussed).
There is a water station provided at the finish. Also a selection of fruits. Further refreshments, including caters and a cake display, will be inside the Sportshall.
First aiders will be attending.
