Seeding for all races now complete
Bristol and West AC Fast 5,000s
Bristol and West AC are proud to be able to add a new premier event to the South-West endurance and middle distance calendar. On Saturday 23rd June 2018 an open meeting of chip timed and pace supported track 5,000 metre races will be held at Yate Athletics track.
This event will be held under UKA Rules for competition.
The event is conducted under UKA permit
The event will be live streamed on the club Facebook page.
Pacing assistance will include a pace-maker for each race running splits towards a pre-identified time. The event will be chip timed with a lap split displaying 400 metre splits. Supporters will be encouraged to cheer on athletes and the bar will be open for the whole event. Races will be split down into 5,000 metre target times starting at sub-15 minutes.
Pace groups and timing
The first race will be at 6.00 p.m. with the A race starting at 8.40 p.m.
Races will be paced and split into timing groups so athletes will run with people of a similar pace. Pacing will be:
New start times and standards - these may still be subject to some change depending on entries.
Each race will be limited to 25 athletes so we expect the race to sell out as with eight races we will only have places for 200 athletes.
Scheduling: We have tried to avoid any calendar conflicts with major events though in a busy season these are bound to happen.
Entries: Entries will be online only, we will announce openings on the Bristol and West Facebook page. We expect this to be a popular event and for it to sell out so please book in early.
Bristol and West as the race organisor resevers the right to move an athlete from a pace catagory should they be unable to demonstarate previous ability to perform around the expected level.
Cancellations: Sadly due to the nature of the event we are unable to refund entries, though you are able to transfer your entry to another person.
Encouraging recreational runners to the track:
Bristol and West have for many years been the premier athletics club in the South West of England and a force to be reckoned with nationally.
Though we have athletes and teams in the top levels of competition we have always been passionate about helping recreational athletes to make the jump to higher levels of competition. The plan for the fast 5,000s is to help athletes who have previously run on the road to make the transition to track running and lead into local track competition.
