Couch 2 Couriers 16+ (Hereford Couriers)
Couch 2 Couriers.
Programme Start: January 2023.
The Couriers are pleased to launch its new Couch 2 Couriers programme, our programme has been created by our members to support new runners at the beginning of your running journey.
Our 12 week bespoke course that starts on Tuesday 10th January has been designed not to just improve your running but we will be on hand to support you further with hints, tips and advice around general fitness. Our programme is an enhanced version of the couch to 5k programme using our experience of being qualified leaders to create a more seamless programme to support runners needs.
All new members will be welcomed to a introductory walk and talk session where you will meet the group leaders and others who are on the course, here you will be able to ask any questions & it will also give us an opportunity to find out more about you. As well as this we will have a new member questionnaire to let us know your goals and aims and general fitness background.
Each week our programme will consist of 2 Couriers led sessions, supported by our England Athletics qualified run leaders, these sessions will be on a Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6:30pm from Hereford Leisure Centre, the same nights as our clubrun sessions so you’ll feel part of the Couriers family right away.
To begin with our sessions will be approx 30 to 40 minutes of exercise and will gradually increase, so just be prepared to be on your feet for the duration of your session, all of our sessions will include a warm up and warm down.
At the end of each week you will receive an activity to take away to help maintain your fitness until your next session, being part of the programme you will also gain access to a dedicated Couch 2 Couriers facebook page & strava group along with the Couriers Members Hub, here there will be a whole host of support and advice from the team.
As soon as you join the programme you will become a member of Hereford Couriers, your membership will run until March 2024, being a member you will receive our full member benefits being part of the Couriers, from enjoying our socials to supporting volunteering opportunities & not to forget full England Athletics affiliation.
Upon completion of your 12 week course we will graduate with a celebratory parkrun and you will be awarded a free gift to highlight your achievements.
No expensive equipment is required, we recommend a pair of comfy running trainers, gym/running kit and if possible a headlight or bodylight (or light in colour clothing) and a waterproof during the winter months.
So our leaders can dedicate and support those on the course in full, we have limited this to 12 members, these will be available on a first come first serve basis.
By becoming part of the Couriers you will need to agree to the clubs code of conduct, this can be found here: Couriers Club Conduct & by signing up to the programme it is deemed that you are fit and healthy and able to join, if you have any health conditions please check with your GP before signing up for the programme.
