Simon Wake Comrie Hills Relay

The Comrie Hills Relay is a 42k hill relay race with 2,110m of ascent, run in 4 stages. The highly scenic course starts and finishes in Comrie village, Perthshire and follows a route up and around the hills surrounding Glen Lednock.

The race is dedicated to the memory of our friend and club mate Simon who died aged 47 in October 2008 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. All proceeds from the race will be donated to the fight against this terrible disease.

In previous years, Leg 2 was run by pairs of runners, meaning a team comprised five runners. In 2018 Leg 2 will be run by single runners, meaning a team will require only four runners.

  • Entry costs £40 per team of 4 runners, less a £2 discount for each runner who is a member of Scottish Athletics.
  • There are prizes for male, female and mixed teams in two age categories (subject to there being at least three teams competing in that category), and for fastest male and female individual leg times. The entry fee includes hot drinks and barbeque for all runners after the race.
  • A mixed team must include at least 2 female runners.

Race Legs are:

  1. 11k, 527m ascent – route marked.
  2. 7k, 400m – unmarked.
  3. 12.6k, 712m – unmarked.
  4. 11k, 370m – marked.

Legs 2 and 3 cover rough mountain terrain, while Legs 1 and 4, although challenging, are closer to trail races.
