Which will take place on 3rd June 2017

 

 

Events (run under BLDSA rules) – The Championships will consist of 6 distinct events

  1. Senior 3 Mile Championship
  2. Senior 3 Mile Wetsuit
  3. Senior 2 Mile Veteran 60+
  4. Junior 2 mile Championship
  5. Senior 1 mile Championship
  6. Senior 1 mile Wetsuit

 

Entry Limit – 90 swimmers maximum made up as below

Events 1, 2  & 3 – 60 swimmers Total (Split between the three categories according to demand)

Event 4 – 10 swimmers

Event 5 – 10 swimmers

Events 6 – 10 swimmers 

 

 

Age Limit – All events

Juniors - over 12 and 15 and under on the day of the swim

Seniors - 16 and over on the day of the swim

Veteran 60+..... 60 and over on the day of the swim

 

 

Registration, Briefing and Start

Registration upon arrival at 7.45 am,

Briefing at 8.45 am in or in-front of the Budworth Sailing Club House,

start 9.00am.

 

After the Swimming

All swimmers are welcome to enjoy a complimentary bacon sandwich and cup of tea/ coffee in the clubhouse after their swim.

The presentation of the awards will take place after all the events have been completed.

 

Directions to Budworth Sailing Club

Take the A49 south from Warrington. At the roundabout over junction 10 of the M56 take the A559 to Northwich, pass the turning for Great Budworth and continue down the hill. After approximately 200m on the right is a concealed entrance to the Sailing Club. CW9 6HA

Senior 3 Mile Championship Rules:

The Senior 3 mile Championship swim will be run under BLDSA rules:

Competitors shall not use any aids to swimming other than one sleeveless and legless costume, one cap and goggles.

Sleeveless shall mean the costume must not extend beyond the end of the shoulder onto the upper arm and legless shall mean the costume must not extend lower than the crotch onto the upper leg:

 

No neoprene or other insulating/buoyancy enhancing material may be used for any purpose, including caps.

Age Limit:

Senior 3 mile Championship age limit is 16 and over on the day of the swim

Identification

Swimmers shall clearly mark their number on their upper left arm. 

All swimmers shall only wear one cap.

Breaststroke swimmers must wear a PINK cap.

All other swimmers shall wear any colour cap except Pink, Orange or White. (Wetsuit swimmers will be wearing a numbered Orange cap).

 

 

Safety cover:

Warrington Dolphins aim to provide a minimum of 1 canoeist per 6 swimmers. If insufficient cover is available to cover all entries the Championships will take place on a, first come first served basis. Swimmers will be notified prior to the event should insufficient cover be available.

Novice swimmers please note that safety cover will be a minimum of 1 canoe to 6 swimmers i.e. 1 to 1 cover will not be provided.

If you wish to provide your own safety cover please contact the event organiser at least 3 weeks prior to the event date.

Senior 2 Mile Veteran                   - 10 swimmers

Junior 2 mile Championship         - 10 swimmers

If we find there is particular over-demand for one event we will re-allocate accordingly – so if places are filled, please do register your interest by joining the waiting list for your event.

We aim to start the events as close as possible to the following times

1 Mile Events     - 9.00am

2 Mile Events     - 9.10am

3 Mile Events     - 9.20 am

 

Time Limit – All events:

Strictly 4 hours; we must clear the water by 13.00

 

Finish:

All swimmers must touch the jetty to finish, calling out your number.

 

The Course:

All events will follow the same route which is a clockwise circuit of the mere

  • 1 Mile Events will complete 1 lap
  • 2 Mile Events will complete 2 laps
  • 3 Mile Events will complete 3 laps.

Presentation - In the clubhouse after the swim

The following trophies and medals will be awarded:-

  • J. Mountfield Trophy - to the Senior Ladies 3 mile Champion.
  • J. White Trophy - to the Senior Gents 3 mile Champion.
  • J. A. Heapy Trophy - to the Junior Ladies 2 mile Champion.
  • J. A. Heapy Trophy - to the Junior Gents 2 mile Champion.
  • Veteran Lady and Gentlemen (2 mile senior event - minimum age 60 years on the day).

  6. Senior 1 mile Wetsuits

Entry Limit:

We have a strict maximum of 90 swimmers that we can accommodate at the Championships.

Each event is given an initial allocation of places as follows

Senior 3 Mile Championship         - 35 swimmers

Senior 3 Mile Wetsuits                  - 15 swimmers

Senior 2 Mile Masters                   - 10 swimmers

Junior 2 mile Championship         - 10 swimmers

Senior 1 mile Championship        - 10 swimmers

Senior 1 mile Wetsuits                 - 10 swimmers

 

If we find there is particular over-demand for one event we will re-allocate accordingly – so if places are filled, please do register your interest by joining the waiting list for your event.

 

Registration:

It is compulsory that all swimmers register upon arrival, registration open at 7.45am 

 

Briefing:

At 8.45am in or in-front of the Budworth Sailing Club House, swimmers in all events and boat crews must attend.

 

Start:

From behind an imaginary line made between the jetty and a moored buoy

We aim to start the events as close as possible to the following times

1 Mile Events     - 9.00am

2 Mile Events     - 9.10am

3 Mile Events     - 9.20 am

 

Time Limit – All events:

Strictly 4 hours; we must clear the water by 13.00

 

Finish:

All swimmers must touch the jetty to finish, calling out your number.

 

The Course:

All events will follow the same route which is a clockwise circuit of the mere

  • 1 Mile Events will complete 1 lap
  • 2 Mile Events will complete 2 laps
  • 3 Mile Events will complete 3 laps.

Presentation - In the clubhouse after the swim

The following trophies and medals will be awarded:-

  • J. Mountfield Trophy - to the Senior Ladies 3 mile Champion.
  • J. White Trophy - to the Senior Gents 3 mile Champion.
  • J. A. Heapy Trophy - to the Junior Ladies 2 mile Champion.
  • J. A. Heapy Trophy - to the Junior Gents 2 mile Champion.
  • Veterans Lady and Gentlemen (2 mile senior event - minimum age 60 years on the day).

Medals or trophies will be awarded to the first 3 places in all 5 categories above. 

 

Insurance:

This year included in the entry fee, swimmers will be fully insured via the BLDSA Insurance

 

Directions to Budworth Sailing Club:

Take the A49 south from Warrington. At the roundabout over junction 10 of the M56 take the A559 to Northwich, pass the turning for Great Budworth and continue down the hill. After approximately 200m on the right is a concealed entrance to the Sailing Club. CW9 6HA

  

Facilities:

Budworth Sailing Club puts showers and changing facilities at our disposal and they will be pleased to find them in a clean and tidy condition. Please use the bins provided for waste.

Parking spaces are limited, please try to share a ride with friends and family and on arrival please comply with instructions from the cark park official.

 

Refreshments:

Available in the Sailing Club after the swim, swimmers and canoeists are entitled to a free drink and bacon sandwich.

A selection of refreshment will also be available for purchase by all guests to the Sailing Club from the Galley.

  1. I have read and will abide by the Championship Rules. 
  2. The particulars given on this entry form are true. 
  3. I am not suffering from any illness or disability known to me, which would render my participation in this Championship inadvisable. Any illness or disability I have which the Championship Secretary should be aware of is identified on my entry form. (A MEDICAL EXAMINATION MAY BE REQUIRED). 
  4. I acknowledge that the Warrington Dolphins relies entirely on the contents of this Entry Form in accepting my request for inclusion in the Championships. 
  5. Warrington Dolphins LDSC, its members, and or Budworth Mere Sailing Club shall not incur any Liability or otherwise, for anything done, or omitted to be done, by them and shall not be liable for personal injury, damage to, or loss of property sustained by any person in conjunction with these Championships. 
  6. All swimmers will be fully insured through the BLDSA insurance and Warrington Dolphins PA insurance policy

Senior 1 Mile Wetsuit Swim Rules:

The Senior 1 Mile Wetsuit swim will be run under BLDSA rules:

Wetsuits shall only be worn in water temperature less than 24 degrees Celsius

Age Limit:

Age limit is 16 and over on the day of the swim

Identification

Swimmers must wear the numbered Orange cap that will be provided on the day.

 

Safety cover:

Warrington Dolphins aim to provide a minimum of 1 canoeist per 6 swimmers. If insufficient cover is available to cover all entries the Championships will take place on a, first come first served basis. Swimmers will be notified prior to the event should insufficient cover be available.

Novice swimmers please note that safety cover will be a minimum of 1 canoe to 6 swimmers i.e. 1 to 1 cover will not be provided.

If you wish to provide your own safety cover please contact the event organiser at least 3 weeks prior to the event date.

The Senior 1 mile Wetsuit Swim Event is one of Six events taking place on the morning.
