Your sessions are Wednesdays 6.30pm-8.30pm
These sessions will start week commencing Wednesday 14th August and run the 14th, 21st, 28th August & 11th September. This is a 4 week course at a cost of £65 (which includes membership of Forth Canoe Club).
What does this course involve?
This course is a new award for British Canoeing. The new awards hope to offer more ownership to the participants while at the same time making sure they have the basic skills they need to paddle on very sheltered water on the canal. The course is for beginners hoping to develop their skills in canoes.

What is the cost?
The course costs £65.
Your course fees cover the costs boat & equipment hire and also cover the cost of membership of Forth Canoe Club, meaning you can come back and enjoy paddling on club nights too.
For insurance purposes any paddler who comes to the club more than 3 times MUST become a club member this is why anyone who signs up for any course automatically becomes a member. FCC are not able to provide a discount for the paddlers who are already members.
How to find us
All courses will run from our boathouse, situated on the bank of the Union Canal at the southern end of Harrison Road. The nearest Postcode is Polwarth Church - EH11 1LU.
What you should bring with you
We ask that you bring a bottle of water and a snack. In addition you will need suitable clothing for kayaking (a fleece, warm t-shirt/thermal, tracksuit trousers, cagoule/windproof, hat and towel) and a change of clothes and footwear in case they get wet. We encourage you to wear footwear in the kayaks, plimsolls are ideal.

When to arrive
The coaches will be at the venue 15 minutes before the session is due to start but will be busy setting up boats for the session to begin promptly at the advertised time. Please ensure you are changed and ready to start the session on time. Please be aware that the coaches cannot take responsibility for you before the start time of the session.
Why do I have to fill in all these forms?
We appreciate it takes time to complete the forms but we have a requirement to provide our coaches with up to date information about the students they will be coaching - their needs, medical issues and emergency details - please work with us to give our coaches the information they need.
Please be aware that any and all canoeing involves risks. Forth Canoe Club will take all reasonable steps to mitigate these risks. In order to book on a course you will be asked to accept our terms and conditions and agree to the following:
As part of the sign up process you will be asked to give consent for Forth Canoe Club to act on your behalf in the event of an incident or illness affecting you.
As part of the sign up process you will be asked to give consent to be treated by a trained first aider and/or medical professional, should this be necessary.
As part of the sign up process you will also be asked to give consent for you to participate in all the activities involved in this course, and understand there is a degree of risk involved in these activities.
Forth Canoe Club will keep a record of members’ names and addresses and contact details on a computer accessible to the Forth Canoe Club Committee. Your record may be inspected by contacting the Membership Secretary. We are affiliated to the SCA and will pass on your data for insurance and membership statistics use.
