Organiser's Description


Gala Harriers athletic club has taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Abbotsford House 5 mile trail race and 2 mile Challenge originally planned for Sunday 16th August 2020.

With the health, safety and welfare of our runners, volunteers, marshals will always remain our priority. We feel it is our responsibility to protect everyone involved, including our emergency services and local community who have always been so supportive.

We apologies for any inconvenience caused by this exceptional situation and the impact on your planning


Gala Harriers Abbotsford 5 mile Trail race will be 12 Noon Sunday 16th August 2020. Number collection and registration will be open from 10:30am on the day of the race.

The race is aprox 5 miles of trails starting in front of Abbotsford House on the banks of the river tweed. Abbotsford House is a historic country house in the Scottish Borders, near Melrose, on the south bank of the River Tweed. It was formerly the residence of historical novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. 

Sir Walter Scott’s Abbotsford remains today as one of the most famous houses in the world.

5 mile Trail race Sunday 16th August 2020 12:00noon Cost £10 or £8 if SAL registered

There will be a new customised medal for all finishers. Minimum age of 17 on race day
