Gala Harriers athletic club has taken the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Abbotsford House 5 mile trail race and 2 mile Challenge originally planned for Sunday 16th August 2020.

With the health, safety and welfare of our runners, volunteers, marshals will always remain our priority. We feel it is our responsibility to protect everyone involved, including our emergency services and local community who have always been so supportive.

We apologies for any inconvenience caused by this exceptional situation and the impact on your planning

2 mile Challenge

This event is under review a decision will be made by the end of July 2020

 

The race costs £5 and is aprox 2 miles of trail starting in front of Abbotsford House on the banks of the river tweed. Abbotsford House is a historic country house in the Scottish Borders, near Melrose, on the south bank of the River Tweed. It was formerly the residence of historical novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. 

Sir Walter Scott’s Abbotsford remains today

as one of the most famous houses in the world.

The 2 mile challenge is suitable for all ages and abilities. (Under 8 years can take part but must be acompanied by an adult).

There will be a customised medal for all finishers.
