The Tighnabruaich Triathlon Tweet
TIGHNABRUAICH TRIATHLON HAS BEEN CANCELLED FOR 2013. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET ENOUGH MARSHALLS FOR THE EVENT TO RUN WELL AND SAFELY. OUR APOLOGIES
General Information:
After two sucessful years, The Tighnabruaich Triathlon is back but on a Saturday! hoping for good weather and no midges and will take place at 8am on the 22nd June in the beautiful surroundings of Tighnabruaich on the Kyles of Bute.
This event is supported by Glasgow Triathlon Club
The swim takes place from the tank slip in Kames and will consist of one 750m loop in relatively sheltered waters. The bike route is an undulating 20km loop with an out and back section, the first few km's are flat then a few climbs. The surface is predominantely very good. The 5km run is a flat out and back, following the coast and taking in the stunning scenery of the Kyles of Bute.

Tighnabruaich is under two hours' drive from Glasgow via the A82 / A83 Loch Lomond / "Rest and be thankful" route. This takes you via A815 towards Strachur from the A83, just before Cairndow. At Strachur turn onto the A886, then the A8003 at Glendaruel. Alternatively, use the ferry crossing at Gourock on the Clyde coast, giving direct access to Cowal at Dunoon, a 40 minute drive from Tighnabruaich. For this route stay on the M8 westbound to Greenock and continue on to the ferries at Gourock. Whichever option you choose, the last 15 minutes are spectacular as you enter Tighnabruaich, it is worth stopping to enjoy the unparalled views of the Kyles of Bute before you descend into Tighnabruaich.
