The West Highland Way Race Tweet
Race date and time:Saturday 22 June 2013, 1am at Milngavie Station
The race:Essentially the object of the West Highland Way Race is simple. You start at Milngavie Railway Station (7 miles north of Glasgow) at 1am on 22rd June and run, jog or walk to Fort William Leisure Centre by noon on the 23th June: 35 hours to cover 95 miles including 14,760ft of ascent. Along the way you pass through checkpoints within time limits. In order to participate you must have your own motorised backup, comprising at least two people, one of which must be capable of covering the later sections with you (or find you) if assistance is required or during the hours of darkness. Terry Conway (2012 - 15:39:15) & Lucy Colquhoun (2007 - 17:16:20) hold the post 1991 route course records, and the overall West Highland Way record is held by Dave Wallace (1989 - 15.26.20).
Entry Fees:SAL Registered £80, Others £82. A refund of £55 will be paid to entrants who give notice of their withdrawal on or before 31 May 2013.
The race is being held under UK Athletics rules and is a Scottish Athletics permit event.
