Innerleithen Forest will host the final Trailquest Scotland Mountain Bike Orienteering Event. Checkpoints have already been chosen and it is sure to be one of the most exciting mountain bike events of Summer 2010!

Mountain Bike Orienteering (AKA Trailquest) is an exciting and fun mountain biking off-road event. YOU choose the course to collect the most points in 1.5 or 3 hours. Tactics, navigation and fitness are all challenged as you visit different checkpoints battling against the clock whilst discovering new MTB routes and just hopefully enjoying the beautiful scenery.

All ages and abilities can enter from 12 to 112!!

Exact details will be e-mailed 1 month prior to the event.

Sunday 22nd August 2010

Timings

Registration opens 9.00 am

Start: 10.00 – 11.00 am

Novices start 10.30 - 12.00

Finish: All competitors to be complete by 14:30 at the latest.

Event duration: 1.5 or 3 hours

Location

Innerleithen Forest, Scottish Borders. Event centre to be confirmed

Just south of Innerliethen Village, the area is well know as one of the country’s premier downhill mountain bike areas with a wealth of forest roads, tracks and singletrack providing access to the undulating forested terrain.

Trailquest / Mountain Biking Orienteering Score Event and will adhere to the BMBO rules which can be found at www.bmbo.org.uk .

0900 - 1030 hrs. Sign in, collect control 'dibber' and control descriptions

Start
After Registering you can start anytime between 10:00 - 11:00 hrs. Your map will be issued at the Start

Map
A map with all control points will be issued at the time of starting. The cost of the map is included in the entry fee. Additional maps are available for £2 each on the day on a first come, first serve basis

Controls
Each Control Point will have a Sport Ident 'Dibber' Punch. The location of this will be clear from the descriptions of each checkpoint given to you at the start. Red/White marker tape may be used to re-inforce this if necessary

Results & Prizes
Scores will be displayed as soon as they have been calculated and checked.
Final Results will be posted on our website www.trailquest-scotland.com . Prizes may be awarded to winners in each class with sufficient entrants.

Please bag it and bin it.

Equipment
The Innerleithen forest is an upland area rising to 600m. Snow is not uncommon in April so be appropriately dressed and equipped. In particular you will need :

  • a roadworthy and well maintained bike
  • a cycling helmet * - must be worn at all times
  • a first aid kit of at least a dressing and plasters *
  • a puncture repair kit, pump and simple tool kit
  • a waterproof jacket *
  • food and drink for 3 hours
  • a whistle *
  • a compass
  • a pen
  • mobile phone
