| ActiveLuton Tri is not open for public entries yet, and it is currently being tested by its organisers. You will not be able to make a test entry unless you have a relevant password. Online entry is now closed, we will take entries on the day, please rgister by 9am. Up date 16 March 2010 Start times are posted on the Active Luton website - www.activeluton.co.uk Due to a sudden rush in demand for places (yes the sun has arrived) I have extended the online entry until Friday 19th March. This will mean that your start time and race number may change slightly, YOU WILL NOT start earlier than presently stated, but within a few minutes. A new list will be posted Friday afternoon. The Luton Triathlon is based at the Putteridge Recreation Centre swimming pool post code LU2 8HJ. Registration will open at 6.15am in an upstairs room in the centre. Remember to bring your race licence, and an approved cycling helmet - no helmet - no race! A final briefing message will be posted at registration, and the team there will be able to answer any questions that you have. Start time may be adjusted closer to the event. Actual swim times will be posted on the Active Luton website www.activeluton.co.uk from the 15th March 2010. This will give you your race start time. You are advised to register at least 45 minutes before. Registration will close at 10.30 am. Timing is by electronic timing chip, collected from registration. The 400m swim in a 5 lane 25 metre pool, one competitor will enter the pool every minute starting from 7.45am (slower swimmers first). Generally in triathlon you run from the pool to your bike, however if you require to change in the changing rooms first, it will not be a problem, you probably will not be alone! They are close to poolside. The cycle leaves the leisure centre, via Mountgrace Road, joining the A505 where you go left to the roundabout at Stopsley in Luton then 'U' turn and follow the A505 (undulating dual carriageway) through to Hitchin. There you will complete another 'U' turn at the Offly Road roundabout and return along the A505 to Putteridge, taking the turning left into Mountgrace Road. At the 3 roundabouts that you encounter on the course, you will be requested by Marshalls to slow down, the two turn around points are very busy and can be hazardous, caution must be your first priority. Remember the rules of the road (The High Way Code) takes president at all time, failure to comply will result in disqualification. To support Police request, the cycle will be run under the RTTC rules for time trailing, this will effect the transition from swim to run as only one cyclist may leave transition per minute - this will be closely monitored and marshalled. Their will be a dead zone where the timing will stop until you are released. We do not see this being an issue to competitors. Further more, drafting will be an instant disqualification, you have been warned, as this will jeopardise any future events held at this venue. The run will be 5km out and back over bridleway. The course is fast, and very suitable for beginners and novices alike (including MTB's), but will also suit experienced triathletes looking for a pre season speed work session. On completion of the course (Well Done!) all finishers will receive a finishers T-shirts.Remember to hand back your timing chip. Presentation will take place at approximately 1pm. Prize categories are for male and female - Jnr (under 20), Open (20 - 39), Veteran (40+), Super Veteran (50+). Catering, including hot drinks is available from the venue on the day. | |||||||
