Dromara Cycling Club 'Coastal'
Start Location
Event Information
Dromara Cycling Club 'Coastal' is not open for public entries yet, and it is currently being tested by its organisers. You will not be able to make a test entry unless you have a relevant password.

Dromara Cycling Club's "Coastal" is an annual event for many cyclists. From the leisure cyclist to the more focused fitness or club rider the coastal has something for everyone. Two distances are offered, 60 miles and 80 miles, starting from Dromara Football club located on the Rathfriland Road, Dromara on Sunday 10 May 2009.

Sign on will open at 8:45 am and the event will start at 9:30 am after a quick photo call. The tour offers a great day out with like minded people going at a pace that suits you. Along the way you can take in the fabulous scenic route along the south Down coastline and the shores of Strangford Lough. There is a food stop arranged in Strangford where cyclists can eat and chat before heading back onto the road again. Just outside Quoile riders can decide which route to take back. Either they can continue enjoying the coastal scenery and go the longer route or take the more direct route back to Dromara via Ballynahinch. Once back in Dromara there is another opportunity to eat and a chance to relax amongst friends.

Facilities at Dromara Football Club

  • Car parking
  • Showers
  • Public bar

The club has been running this "Coastal" for over 10 years and is looking for a great turn out this year again, not only to encourage more people to experience the pleasures of cycling in a group around this part of the countryside but also to help raise funds for the club's chosen charity, the Northern Ireland Children's Cancer Home, Shimna Valley.

The fee for the event will be £10 (€10) for CTC or Cycling Ireland members. For those who are not members (and therefore do not have insurance cover) there is an additional fee of £2 (€2) for a one-day third party cover insurance or an additional £10 (€10) for a Cycling Ireland leisure licence which will give you personal accident cover for the rest of the year. The additional £2 or £10 can be paid on the day.

We do hope you can join us !
