Glentress Forest Trailquest 2010 | Start Location | | | Event Information | Glentress Forest Trailquest 2010 is not open for public entries yet, and it is currently being tested by its organisers. You will not be able to make a test entry unless you have a relevant password. Glentress Trailquest is a mountain bike event designed to test both stamina and navigational skills. Open to pairs or solo, each competitor uses the pre-marked map to choose a route visiting as many checkpoints as possible in the 3 hours time limit.
Event Centre
The Glentress Buzzard’s Nest carpark (GR 277 412). Follow signs through Glentress from the A72 Peebles to Innerleithen road (see OS Map 73). Toilets are located 500m from the road on the right of the forest track (just past the Squirrel Car Park). Please follow the directions of the marshals when parking.
Event Area
The event will take place within Glentress Forest north of the A72. The area is well know as one of the country’s premier mountain bike areas with a wealth of forest roads, tracks and singletrack providing access to the undulating forested terrain.

Parking Charge
Please remember to purchase a £2 parking ticket, available from the ticket machine at the Event Centre in the Buzzard’s Nest carpark (The £2 charge is levied on all Glentress users by the Forestry Commission to pay for the maintenance of mtb trails)
Registration
0900 - 1045 hrs. Sign in, collect control 'dibber' and control descriptions
Start
After Registering you can start anytime between 1000 - 1100 hrs. Your map will be issued at the Start
Map
A specially drawn 1:15000 map with all control points and values marked will be issued at the time of starting. The cost of the map is included in the entry fee.
Controls
Each Control Point will have a Sport Ident 'Dibber' Punch. The location of this will be clear from the descriptions of each checkpoint given to you at the start. Red/White marker tape may be used to re-inforce this if necessary
Results & Prizes
Scores will be displayed as soon as they have been calculated and checked.
Final Results will be posted on our website www.peeblescycling.org an www.trailquest-scotland.com Prizes may be awarded to winners in each class with sufficient entrants.
Litter
Our events are almost litter free which reflects well on Trailquest and PCC. Please try and maintain our good record.
Equipment
The Glentress forest is an upland area rising to 600m. Snow is not uncommon in May so be appropriately dressed and equipped. In particular you will need :
a roadworthy and well maintained bike
a cycling helmet * - must be worn at all times
a first aid kit of at least a dressing and plasters *
a puncture repair kit, pump and simple tool kit
a waterproof jacket *
food and drink for 3 hours
a whistle *

Under 21's - Solo £8, Pair £15
Full TCA/MTBO members - Solo £10.00, Pair £18 (you must quote your MTBO number. Associate TCA/MTBO members - Solo £12.00, Pair £20.00 (extra £2 is for day insurance. Must quote TCA number)
Family (1 x Adult, 1 x Child) - £15.00
SI 'Dibber' Hire £1.00 (or supply the number of your own)
