400m swim, 20k bike, 5k run.

The Braintree District triathlon is based at a very modern and well equipped leisure centre to the north of Halstead, Essex. For 2010 we will have the benefit of a chip timing system in use. The race starts in the 25m indoor pool, having the benefit of just two racers in a lane. There is a spacious transition area within the centre grounds, which form the focus of the race. The cycle course is mainly on rural roads, a single lap of 20km, passing through Earls Colne, Pebmarsh and Catley Cross. This is followed by a two lap run over a mixture of paths and grassland. The pool swim and traffic free run course makes it an ideal race for novices and young competitors, minimum age 15yrs on race day. We also offer a relay option, where three athletes each complete one discipline. This is the third running of the Braintree District Triathlon at its new location. The race is very popular and as in previous years, we expect the entry list to fill up quickly. On reaching the entry limit we will keep a small waiting list to replace those who have to withdraw.

Distances: -

SWIM - 400 metre pool swim at the clean and modern leisure centre pool. There will be a maximum of two swimmers per lane, seeded according to the declared swim time.

CYCLE - A single lap road course, totalling 20km. This is a testing and undulating course, along mainly rural roads, with a very fast final four miles back to the centre.

RUN - A two lap, multi terrain run on paths and grassland surrounding the leisure centre.

The transition area will be situated to the rear of the leisure centre, shower and changing facilities will be available at the leisure centre itself. The first swim start will be at 8am.

Rules
This event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon.
Your bicycle must be in a mechanically safe condition.
An approved cycle helmet must be worn on the cycle section. NO HELMET NO RACE.
A referee will be present throughout the race.

Withdrawal Policy - Born2tri acknowledge racers will on occasion need to withdraw an entry through injury or other reason. Born2tri will accept written notification of a withdrawal, received by the organiser prior to the closing date. A refund will be made less a £5 administration fee. After the closing date no refund or substitution will be accepted.
