400m swim, 10k mixed terrain bike, 4k run.

This is an enjoyable early season triathlon, which offers a pleasant but challenging parkland course. The event will be held entirely on grassland and paths, off public roads, around Gloucester Park in Basildon, Essex. The organisers recommend using an ‘off road’ type cycle, as the course can be slippery and muddy after rain. The pool swim and traffic free course makes it an ideal race for novices and young competitors, minimum age 13yrs on race day. We also offer the opportunity for relay teams to take part, with one team member completing each leg of the race. We expect the entry list to fill up quickly as in previous years. Once the entry limit is reached we will keep a small waiting list to replace those who have to withdraw.

Distances: -

SWIM - 400 metre pool swim at Gloucester Park Swimming Pool. Swimming two lengths in each of six lanes before exiting the pool. Swimmers will be seeded according to their swim estimate.

CYCLE - A three lap course, totalling 10km of mainly grass route around the north end of Gloucester Park. It is not a technical course, although a short steep climb and a fast decent are negotiated once per lap. This course has been known to become mucky after long periods of rain.

RUN - A one lap, flat, 4km loop, routed on the toe track around Gloucester Park.

The transition area will be situated to the rear of the Gloucester Park Swimming Pool, shower and changing facilities will be available at the pool itself. Note due to the restrictions of the pool, the first swim start will be at 7am.

Rules
This event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon.
Your bicycle must be in a mechanically safe condition.
An approved cycle helmet must be worn on the cycle section. NO HELMET NO RACE.
A referee will be present throughout the race.

Withdrawal Policy - Born2tri acknowledge racers will on occasion need to withdraw an entry through injury or other reason. Born2tri will accept written notification of a withdrawal, received by the organiser prior to the closing date. A refund will be made less a £5 administration fee. After the closing date no refund or substitution will be accepted.
