Hello and Welcome to the Wombourne 2010 Ten/10 (and 5). Monday April 5th.

Please take a moment to read this info sheet to make for an easy race for all concerned.

Registration is behind Wombourne Leisure Centre, (Ounsdale Rd, WV5 8BJ), in the foyer to the School Gym. The 2 buildings are attached so park behind the Leisure Centre and follow the signs. (NB The Leisure Centre is closed). There will be changing and toilet but not shower facilities.

All entrants need to register to

Ensure they are in the right race.
Collect their race number and timing chip.

After registering make your way to the start line on the railway walk by heading out of the Leisure Centre, turning right out of the main gates and walking along the lay by. Pass Westfield school gates and turn right down the small pathway this brings you down to the railway.

Start times are as follows.

10 Mile Race 09.15 – 09.40.
10k Race 09.40 – 10.05
5k Race 10.05 – 10.10

Please be available to start from the earliest time stated above for your event.

All races are “out and back” along the railway walk. The route is all off road so the surface will vary in condition and could well be muddy if we have rain in the days leading up to the event. However, spikes are not necessary. Please try and run on the left and be mindful of runners coming in the opposite direction.

You are quite likely to encounter dog walkers, mountain bikers and possibly a horse or two so please respect other users of the facilities.

10 Mile route. Starts under the railway bridge beneath Planks Lane Wombourne and extends close to Aldersley Stadium, (5 miles out in fact!) There will be a turn marshal and drink station at 5miles. There will also be marshals at intervals along the route. There are potentially three “gates” to negotiate.

Please use your common sense with these and allow faster runners right of way. The route will be mile marked. Please ensure you drop drink cups and litter carefully – we will of course clean up but make our life as easy as possible so that we can come back next year please!

10k route. Starts under the railway bridge beneath Planks Lane Wombourne and extends to the Castlecroft area of Wolverhampton, (5k out in fact!) There will be a turn marshal and drink station at 5k. There will also be marshals at intervals along the route. The route will be km marked. Please ensure you drop drink cups and litter carefully – we will of course clean up but make our life as easy as possible so that we can come back next year please!

Again starts under the railway bridge beneath Planks Lane Wombourne and extends towards Lwr Penn, (yes you guessed 2.5k out in fact!) There will be a turn marshal at the 2.5k point.

Please ensure that your timing chip and race number match and that you wear your chip around your ankle. Please ensure that you return the chip at the end of the race – they are expensive and non returned chips will be charged for.
