There are 2 categories
1. Traditional swimming costumes/trucks (must not extend beyond the end of the shoulder onto the upper arm and lower than the crotch onto the upper leg, i.e. No wetsuits or body suites).
2. Wetsuit
Registration
Report to the Swim Secretary upon arrival at the site.
Briefing
3.00pm between the storage containers and the waters edge.
Start
3.30pm from just off the small headland
Course
An anti-clockwise circuit around positioned yellow buoys.
Conditions of Entry
1. This swim is an open event. Membership of the BLDSA is not required for the event.
2. BLDSA Rules apply to this swim.
3. That you will declare that if you enter the swim whilst pregnant, you will inform the swim secretary at the earliest possible opportunity, and will provide him/her with a letter from a doctor or midwife confirming your suitability to enter the event. You understand that entry may be refused to pregnant swimmers at the discretion of the swim secretary, following a risk assessment.
Time limit
There will be a time limit of 1.5hours on this swim – this limit will be rigidly enforced.
Non UK Residents
Non UK Residents must provide evidence of membership of their governing body or individual insurance for Open Water Swimming.
How to get to there
Wykeham Lake is on the A170 Scarborough to Pickering Road. It is on the left if coming from Scarborough, just after West Ayton and on the right if coming from Pickering. The Lake is sign posted Wykeham Lake / Charm Park and is opposite Hutton Buscel.
Emergency Safety Cover
Safety cover will be provided; a number of canoes will be positioned around the route and the BLDSA rescue boat will be on patrol.
Changing Facilities
There is no building on site for changing in.
Presentations
The presentation will be held on the lake side as soon as possible after the last swimmer finishes.
Car Parking
All cars entering the site will be charges £5 for parking by the Wykeham Watersports Centre
General Information
All persons are advised to report any incidents, including near misses, to a nominated person who shall be named at the championship briefing meeting.
The BLDSA has in place Anti-Bullying and Child/ Vulnerable Adult Policies. Copies of which may be obtained from the BLDSA Hon. Child Protection Officer.
